Kia is rapidly picking up pace and is now counted is one of the best selling car brands in the American markets. The brand offers a number of products in its portfolio for the American market and recently scored eight IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards. While these Kia cars are different when compared to the ones sold in the Indian market, here is everything that you want to know about the latest safety awards received by the Korean carmaker.
For starters, the Insurance Insititute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recognised eight Kia vehicles on its 2022 TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards. These models include the Kia Telluride, Sorento, Seltos, Carnival, Sportage, and the Soul. The Kia K5 and the Stinger sedans qualified as TOP SAFETY PICK+ winners. As mentioned before, these models are different when compared to the iterations sold here in India.

The TOP SAFETY PICK winners scored Good ratings in six crash tests- driver side small overlap front, passenger side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength and head restraint tests. The vehicles were also scored Advanced or Superior ratings for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention evaluations. The vehicles should have at least one available headlight system that earns a Good or Adequate rating. The cars scoring the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award must score Good or Acceptable ratings for the headlight system.
