Electric mobility is picking up at a decent pace in India, thus demanding the need for development and expansion of charging infrastructure all across the country. To eliminate a question of doubt regarding the range of an electric vehicle and profitability, in the long run, the government is taking significant steps to develop the EV charging and manufacturing infrastructure in the country.
The government has urged international companies to start their business in India. One of the electric vehicle manufacturing giants, Tesla Inc., is in talks with the government to begin its operations in the Indian homelands and has already set up its research and development centre in Bangalore. The brand would soon start its manufacturing and sales operations in the later years.

Similarly, multiple Public Sector Undertaking Companies have tied up with private companies under the venture of 'Rebuilding Infrastructure for India 2.0' by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to develop and expand the EV charging infrastructure in India. Multiple allowances and subsidies are being provided to both an Electric Vehicle user as well as an organisation set up electric chargers.

The government has invited companies to collaborate to work on battery technology and electric powertrain retrofitting technologies for research and development purposes. Moreover, there are multiple projects being undertaken to use green energy to charge electric vehicles with an exclusive emphasis on solar and hydel power.

The government is reportedly working to develop the policies and standards for battery swapping in electric vehicles, which can be a boon for local commuters. These policies would also help to reduce the ex-showroom price of the vehicle as the battery can be purchased or rented separately as per the comfort and utility of the vehicle owner.
Aiming to expand these technologies to the commercial, construction and agricultural sector, the government is inviting joint ventures from Indian and International companies to develop the best systems in India with the added benefit of availing a 100 per cent FDI in the road sector.
Recently, many organisations, including Gogoro, has tied up with Hero MotoCorp and Ather Energy to develop battery swapping systems in India. With the growth of this idea, multiple electric two wheeler manufacturers are waiting for the thumbs up from the government to take it into account and reveal their respective products. On the whole, these technologies can be a breakthrough for the Indian commuters, thus turning out beneficial both for the individuals as well as the public.
