Kia Syros To Make First Appearance On December 19
The Kia Syros compact SUV has made enough hype with the slow release of teasers and information bits that work in its favor. Not only this, but the segment that it targets is also one of the hotly contested with every brand putting its best foot forward, with the Skoda Kylaq being another new joiner to the fray. The Kia Syros draws inspiration from other Kia models like the EV9 and Carnival, featuring a distinctive window line and the interior will offer a spacious five-seat layout, along with features like a panoramic sunroof and an advanced ADAS suite. Kia will initially launch the Syros with a petrol engine, followed by an electric variant in the latter half of next year.

Powertrain Details
While specific technical details are yet to be confirmed, the Kia Syros is expected to be offered with both combustion and electric powertrain options. The combustion engine options could include a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine, similar to the powertrain options available in the Sonet. The electric variant of the Syros is likely to feature smaller battery packs and motors compared to the larger Carens EV.
The Kia Syros will compete with a range of sub-compact SUVs, including the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The Syros will make its public debut at the Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi in January.
Verdict
Kia has nailed its strategy for the Indian market where it was quick to make a significant place for itself in the market. Next in line Syros, which will be positioned on the lines of Sonet and while it looks promising on paper, it still has a crowded segment with some really strong players that have proved their mettle overtime.
