Peugeot, which is owned by Mahindra, appears to be testing a new electric scooter for the Indian market. Peugeot sells different type of scooters in international market and this could be the attempt to get into the personal mobility space in India. For the first time, an electric Peugeot Kisbee scooter has been seen in India. It's possible that Peugeot would introduce its first two-wheeler in India.

Two Peugeot Kisbee scooters, an ICE and an electric model, have recently been seen in India. The spotting of the scooter suggests that Mahindra-owned Peugeot intends to release it in both an ICE and an electric form. The Kisbee's electric variant will be a rival to other mid-range electric scooters like the Hero Electric Optima. Internationally, the 49.9cc 2-stroke engine that powers the Kisbee's ICE variant produces 3.48 bhp of power and 3.2 Nm of torque. The scooter has 12-inch alloy wheels, one shock absorber in the back, and telescopic fork suspension up front. The scooter boasts a U-shaped headlamp placed on the apron. None of the scooters on the Indian market now have engines smaller than 100cc.

Kisbee

Peugeot is a brand that Mahindra owns 51% of, and given the increasing market for electric two-wheelers, Mahindra may launch Peugeot-sourced scooter in India. The brand hasn't yet made any announcements on the release date and technical details of these two-wheelers. However, the testing stage makes it clear that they are thinking about employing it for the Indian market.

Verdict: The entry-level Kisbee model may be a sensible choice for the Indian market if Mahindra intends to bring Peugeot scooters there. It will be able to appeal to diverse segments if it is launched in both electric and an ICE model.
