Toyota Fortuner is not just a SUV but a force of nature. It's a SUV built to lead with its 4x4 capabilities. The 2021 Fortuner comes with a bold trapezoid grille design with chrome highlights and pontoon shaped bumper with skid plates and LED projector headlamps with distinctive LED DRLs.
Toyota has introduced a new split LED rear tail lamps, a newly designed fog lamp bezel, a powered back door with memory function and jam protection, and multi-axis chrome metallic finished alloy wheels. The new Fortuner is always appointed to conquer, which means no matter how bad or tough the terrain is, you will always feel connected and cocooned in luxury and safety.
Fortuner now comes with an all-new black interior, premium 11 JBL speakers with subwoofers (available only in top-end 4x4 trims), and the cockpit has a cool blue theme, intuitive drive modes, power steering with VFC paddle shifters. It comes equipped with an advanced connected infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Going on to the safety features it offers, Fortuner comes with seven SRS airbags, electronic drive control, hill assist control, downhill assist control, electronic differential lock, front and rear parking sensors, vehicle stability control, ABS+EBD+BA, and tough body on frame chassis. The XUV700 comes with a six-way electronically adjustable drivers seat, dual HD Superscreen which is a combination of infotainment screen and digital drivers display compatible with ADRENOX connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility over wifi also, Alexa built-in integration, immersive 3D sound technology, driver drowsiness alert, intuitive drive modes, AdrenoX connect app, and intelligent cockpit.
XUV700 also offers a Luxury Pack with its top-end variants. Luxury pack includes one of the most innovative ADAS safety features that offer Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition. Along with the ADAS pack, it comes with ESP, an electronic power brake and auto hold, a Front collision warning, and seven airbags.
Specifications
The all-new 2021 Fortuner is available with petrol and diesel engine options mated to both automatic and manual transmissions. The 2.8-litre four-cylinder In-Line diesel engine is capable of delivering 204 PS of maximum power and 500 Nm of peak torques. And the 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine churning out 166 PS of maximum power and 245 Nm of peak torque.
On the other hand, Mahindra XUV700 is available with petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces 200 PS of maximum power and 380 Nm of peak torque and 2.2-litre turbo diesel with CRDi engine delivers 185 PS of maximum power and 450 Nm of peak torque.

The diesel variant of Fortuner is also available with 4x4 option whereas the petrol one just offers a 4x2 version.
Mahindra XUV700 vs Toyota Fortuner Design and Dimensions
XUV700 is based on Mahindras global W601 platform. However, there is a possibility that the SUV might appeal a bit similar to XUV500 . XUV700 being an updated version of the brand, offers rugged styling with new designed elements such as clear-view LED Headlamps, arrow LED tail lights, smart door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels and an unmissable front grille. The road presence offered by XUV700 looks appealing and rugged due to the prominent changes in the design.
Coming on to Toyota Fortuners design language, it comes with dusk-sensing LED headlamps, redesigned LED headlights and tail lamps with integrated LED DRLs and turn indicators, redesigned front bumper with new fog lamp bezel, illuminated entry system, front and rear LED fog lamps, automatic back door, and aero-stabilising fins on ORVM base and rear combination lamps.

Now comes the matter of concern, the price. Mahindra XUV700 can be said as an affordable SUV for all whereas the same statement does not suit with the Toyota Fortuner. Toyota Fortuner is an investment vehicle that won't let your money go to waste even a single day. Even if it gets older, the resale value wont go down unless there is a decrease in demand.
XUV700 is aggressively priced making it convenient and affordable for all. It asks for a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 22.89 lakhs (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner SUV starts at Rs 30.73 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes up to Rs 38.18lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
