It's no secret to anyone that Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are working together on a new SUV to take on the rivals like the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The two brands recently started the trial production of this new SUV that is expected to be launched in the market soon. This new mid-sized SUV will be manufactured as part of the joint venture that the two brands recently signed. Here are all the details that you should check out about this new upcoming Maruti Suzuki-Toyota SUV in India.
For starters, this new SUV will be built at the Toyota's Bidadi Plant number 2 in Karnataka. It will be the first product that will be properly developed by the two brands after entering the joint venture last year. To be built around a modified and localised version of Toyota's TNGA-B ( or DNGA platform), this SUV will give stiff competition to the other mid-size SUVs in the country. Both the brands will be using new systems and procedures for the production of this new SUV and will be utilising new suppliers in addition to the older combination of suppliers from both the companies.

Toyota is also expected to lend its hybrid powertrain options for the new mid-size SUV which will help the brand dominate the market with fuel-efficient and refined engine options. In addition to this, a petrol engine is also expected to be on offer. Most of the components of the powertrain will be manufactured in India to keep the costs in check. No diesel engine is expected to be on sale at the time of the launch.
It is worth noting that despite being underpinned by the same platform, both these SUVs will feature a different exterior design and cabin. In addition to this, both the SUVs will offer a long list of bells and whistles when it comes to features and equipment on offer. For starters, the cars are expected to offer connected car tech, large touchscreen infotainment systems with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, push-button start, and more.
