Tata Nexon is a very popular sub-4metre compact SUV in India. The Nexon was first launched in the year 2017 and very recently it got a facelift too which made it even better than before. The Nexon looks good and is loaded with features. Also, it is one of the safest cars in its segment and is pretty well-priced too. So, what's missing in this SUV? A great transmission option? Sorta yes and it seems like Tata will soon address this as the new Nexon has been teased and looks like it will be the highly-anticipated Nexon DCT.
Talking about the powertrain options of the Nexon Facelift, so it gets both BS6-compliant petrol as well as diesel engine options. It gets a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This turbo petrol motor churns out 120 PS of maximum power and 170 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine that pumps out 110 PS of power and a whopping 260 Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT. Both the engines of the Nexon offer good drivability, they have a good punch on offer and are frugal too.
However, both the mills are mated to a 6-speed AMT which does offer the convenience of an automatic transmission in the city but the AMT does not offer the best driving thrill. It has been in news since a really long time that Tata Motors is working on a DCT for the Nexon and the upcoming Altroz Turbo. In fact, just a few weeks ago, a test mule of the Nexon was spied near Pune and it was assumed to be the Nexon DCT. If speculations go right, Tata Motors will introduce the DCT gearbox with the Nexon very soon.

As you can see in the above image, it says two days to go and stay tuned to discover the #NexLevel. If Tata launches the Nexon DCT, the DCT gearbox will only be offered with the Nexon Petrol. Also, the carmaker might continue to offer the AMT in the lower variants and the DCT might be offered in the top-spec trims only. Which DCT will it be? So, according to reports, the company will use a Punch-sourced 7-speed DT-1 dual-clutch gearbox. This DCT has been designed specifically for the compact cars (offering torque up to 200Nm).
Other than the introduction of the DCT gearbox, we don't think there will be any other changes. However, Tata might add some subtle sporty inserts to make the Nexon look more enchanting. Also, let us assume if it won't be the Nexon DCT, what else it can be? So, it might be possible Tata Motors will launch the Kraz Edition of the Nexon but this time it seems highly unlikely as the teaser image doesn't show any such crazy graphics. However, we can't deny the fact that it can be a special edition model too. Well, what it will be, we will come to know in just two days. For now, the Tata Nexon Facelift BS6 is priced between Rs. 6.99 lakhs - Rs. 12.70 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi.
