Skoda Global yesterday revealed its first all-electric SUV to the world - the ENYAQ. The new Skoda ENYAQ will be the first Skoda to sit on VW' MED electric modular platform. Skoda will offer the ENYAQ in multiple battery specifications and in rear or all-wheel-drive layouts. With the power outputs going from 109kW to 225kW and range of up to 510 km (WLTP Certified), there will be an ENYAQ for every buyer.
Exteriors
The Skoda ENYAQ stays true to the concept and even gets illuminated grille. The illuminated grille boasts 130 LEDs and is standard in RS and Founders Edition trims. The body lines of the new Skoda ENYAQ are smooth and the shoulder line connects the edges of headlights and taillights. The Founders Edition rides on 21-inch alloy wheels whereas the base trims get 18-inch steel rims - which is unheard before, in this segment of cars. Skoda has designed the ENYAQ very well and in result, it has a drag coefficient of 0.27 and low rolling resistance tyres. The rear LED taillights also boast the famous dynamic swipe turn indicators.
Stepping In
Skoda has taken the minimalist approach with the interiors. The dashboard sports a flowing design and a gigantic 13-inch touchscreen sit on the top. The AC vents sit lower the touchscreen and the ENYAQ is the first Skoda to come with a heads-up display. The cabin is said to be made up of sustainably processed leather and 40 per cent pure new wool upholstery. The interior is available with 10 theme packages and some individual options. The twin-spoke steering wheel looks stylish and gets multifunctional controls.
If we talk about equipment, Skoda ENYAQ offers two-zone climate control, keyless start, SmartLink technology, LED headlights, LED taillights, electric boot, steering mounted paddles etc. Depending on the variant, the buyer can choose LED matrix headlights and much more. Skoda ENYAQ is also the brand's most powerful car at this moment.

Electric Propulsors
Skoda ENYAQ is offered in multiple powertrain options with different range and charging options. The base trim sports a rear-mounted motor with rear-wheel drive only and offers a range of 340 km. The ENYAQ will be offered with three battery options - 55kWh, 62kWh and 82kWh battery packs. Talking about the power figures which are segregated in 5 - 146hp, 177hp, 201hp, 261hp and 302hp.

All the trims are offered with rear-wheel-drive except for the 80x and RS trims which are offered with all-wheel-drive. The variant with 510 km claimed range is the ENYAQ 80 which gets a 62kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted motor only. The RS trim can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds and also get 180 km/h speed limit which is 20 km/h more than all other trims.
Fast Charging and "Simply Clever" Features
The Skoda ENYAQ is offered with multiple battery pack options, which also means we have multiple charging options. The base 50 and 60 trims don't support 125kW fast charging and can take up to 50kW. The 80, 80x and RS trims support 125kW fast charging which can charge the ENYAQ from 5-80 per cent in just 38 minutes claimed. With the AC wall box charger, the ENYAQ can be charged overnight and the charging time varies from six to eight hours depending on the variant.
Skoda always stands by its "Simply Clever" tag line and the ENYAQ offers some really clever features. The electric boot has an ice scraper with tyre tread depth gauge. Other features include boot false floor offering secret storage space, umbrella holders in front doors and electrically operatable tow bar. Front seatbacks also get folding tray tables for rear-seat passengers.
Availability and India Launch
Skoda has revealed the ENYAQ and already started taking orders. The Founders Edition of the ENYAQ will go on sale in late 2021. The ENYAQ electric SUV takes on the likes of SUVs like Kia Niro. The Czech carmaker has not given a word on its India launch but Skoda India head, Zac Hollis said in a tweet that they are still evaluating products for the Indian market including electric cars as well.
