Tata Motors To Take Over Ford Motor's Sanand Plant

After the exit of the American Auto Maker, Ford Motors, from India, Tata Motors is one of the first Indian Automotive manufacturers to have taken an advantage of the opportunity. It is suspected that this decision was taken way before the official exit of the organisation. Recently, both the automakers have agreed on and submitted the proposal of transfer of Ford Motor's passenger vehicle manufacturing facility to Tata Motors.

Tata Motors has now become one of the biggest automotive manufacturers in the Indian markets and has always aimed to improve in every aspect. Having earned a reputation in terms of build quality and safety standards, many Tata Passenger vehicle products have topped the sales charts over the years.

Tata Motors take over factory manufacturing

A High Power Committee (HPC) is to be appointed by the state to affirm the proposal and inspect all the elements in detail. The decks at Sanand have recently been cleared for Tata Motors operations to commence after the government's approval. This manufacturing plant is situated 40 kilometres away from Ahmedabad. Despite the takeover, it is unsure if Tata Motors would be able to enjoy all the exceptional privileges and incentives it received in Gujarat during the Nano's womb era!

In its times, Ford Motors had invested Rs. 4500 crore to set up this manufacturing facility. It also comprises an engine assembly line that boasts a capacity of 2.7 lakh engines per annum. The current manufacturing facility of Tata Motors in Sanand has an annual capacity of 1.5 lakh units which would go manifold to 3.9 lakhs with the addition of this facility in the portfolio.
