Tesla's Possibly Entry In India: Details
There has been a lot of buzz around the India entry of Tesla for many years. The rumours were further fueled when Elon Musk was supposed to visit the country and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the visit and the meeting were eventually postponed after Tesla ended up sacking 10% of its staff.
The US-based firm is currently eyeing multiple locations in the Delhi-NCR region, such as the DLF Avenue Mall and Gurugram's famous Cyber Hub. According to reports, Tesla is looking for space between 3000 to 5000 square ft for establishing an experience centre. Additionally, it is also looking for a place thrice the size mentioned before, for operations and deliveries.

However, these things are still at a nascent stage, and no concrete decisions seem to have been taken. There is also no clarity regarding how Tesla plans to bring its cars to India; whether it plans to import its EVs to India at 100% tax rate, or make investment commitments and import certain EVs at a lower tax rate, as per the country's latest EV policy is something only time can tell us.
Verdict
Tesla continues to be a rather famous name in India, and this will certainly spin around some interesting theories. However, there is no doubt that the entry of Tesla in India will be a grand affair and it will garner a lot of attention from day one.
