The Honda Amaze 3rd generation seems to be a mix of the Honda City and Honda Elevate. Unlike previous models, it lacks a distinct identity, with the front resembling the Elevate and the rear looking like the City. The side profile, however, is similar to the outgoing model, retaining the Amaze DNA.

Features Common In Honda Amaze and Honda City
ADAS
The Amaze is now India's most affordable sedan with ADAS features. To add to that, this feature is only available with the top-spec ZX variant, which starts at Rs 9.69 lakh. Previously, the most affordable car with ADAS was the Honda City, with the V variant offering this safety tech.
Blind Spot Camera
The 2nd generation Honda Civic was the first mass-market car to introduce this safety feature. It was later added to the 5th-gen Honda City, and now, even the Honda Amaze gets it. The important thing to note is that this is the first-in-segment safety feature.
Wireless Charging Pad
Both the Honda City and Honda Amaze come with a wireless charging pad, but the one in the Amaze has better placement, as there is a dedicated space carved out for it. In contrast, in the City, the charging pad feels more like an aftermarket accessory, and customers can even remove it.
8 Inch Infotainment Screen
Surprisingly, both sedans feature an 8-inch infotainment screen, which comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, both screens can be controlled via a smartphone using the Honda app. However, the screen in the Amaze is more upright, while in the City, it is affixed to the dashboard.
Semi-Digital Driver's Display
A very unique feature in the Indian automobile industry is the instrument cluster, where the left half (7 inches) is fully digital, and the other half is analog. We first saw this in the Honda City, then in the Elevate, and now in the Amaze. The digital section provides all the necessary information related to ADAS, range, trip meter, and much more.
Rear ac vents
AC vents are now available in the Honda Amaze as well, and below the vents, Honda has also provided a 12V charging outlet, again taken from its bigger sister, the Honda City.
Tail-lights
Both cars share the tail-lights, but in the all-new Amaze, the lights appear much more compact with new elements inside. In the City, they look more handsome, as they match the width of the car. While this is not a feature, it's worth mentioning since we are discussing the similarities between both vehicles.
Honda Amaze and Honda City price comparison
The new Amaze starts at Rs 7.99 lakh for the first 45 days, as this is an introductory price and may change. On the other hand, the Honda City starts at Rs 11.82 lakh, as it is a longer sedan by almost 550 mm and features a bigger 1.5L i-VTEC engine. The other variants of the Amaze are VX (Rs 9.09 lakh) and ZX (Rs 9.69 lakh).
The Honda City's next line of variants includes V, VX, ZX, and a special Elegant Edition. Both sedans are available with manual and CVT options with paddle shifters. However, the City offers a 6-speed manual, while the Amaze has a 5-speed manual.

Verdict
Despite sharing many important features, there is still a huge difference between the two cars. The Honda Amaze is a sub-4 meter sedan, targeting first-time car buyers. One of the key advantages of the City is its 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine, which achieves 18 to 19 kmpl with ease and performs like a cheetah. However, if you're looking for a budget-friendly City, the Amaze is a great option.
