Hyundai Exter
The Hyundai Exter has received its first major update, making it more feature-loaded and bolder with new colour options and subtle styling revisions. The updated Exter now comes with additional safety features that enhance overall safety. Powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, it remains one of the most refined small SUVs in its segment. For mileage-conscious buyers, it is also available with a dual-cylinder CNG setup. The dual CNG cylinders ensure that boot space is not compromised much.

Should I buy the Exter?

The 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine is one of the most refined in the segment, along with a highly responsive and lag-free AMT gearbox option. Moreover, the availability of a dual-cylinder CNG option makes it more practical for CNG buyers. Hyundai is more focused on quality and refinement than its rivals in this segment, which further adds to the Exter's appeal. However, if you are looking for a turbo-petrol engine, the Citroën C3X could be a suitable alternative.
- The Hyundai Exter continues to feature a distinctive SUV-inspired design, characterised by its upright stance, prominent body cladding, and roof rails. The dual-tone finish is on the dashboard. The front seats feature integrated headrests, while the rear seats provide adjustable headrests.

Hyundai Motor India Limited has launched the facelift of the Exter at Rs 5.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Exter comes with cosmetic updates on the outside and gets new features inside the cabin. With the new update, the brand has changed the variant names of the entire Exter lineup. It continues to compete with the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3, and offers a fierce competition to other cars in the same segment.
The 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift has been spotted testing and is expected to launch around March 2026, bringing subtle exterior tweaks but notable interior and tech upgrades. While engines are likely to remain unchanged, the update should focus on better infotainment, added comfort features, and enhanced convenience, keeping the Exter competitive in the crowded sub-4m SUV space.
