The 2024 Tata Altroz Racer offers an unbeatable mix of 5-star safety and performance of a 120PS turbocharged petrol engine. The Racer distinguishes itself from the regular Altroz by offering a different dual-tone exterior colour scheme, sporty contrast colors on the inside and key features like sunroof and seat ventilation. It undercuts the Hyundai i20 N Line in terms of pricing and could be your set of hot wheels in the price segment.

• What we admire in this car

  • Value deal : The R1 version at 9.49 lakh is pretty good considering features on offer
  • 5 star safety rating makes it the safest in the segment. 6 Airbags standard.
  • Spacious interiors with doors that open 90 degree wide
  • Top models are loaded with ventilated seats, 360 camera, sunroof etc
  • Sporty exhaust system will be music to ears

• What could have been better

  • No automatic option, a key feature that i20 N Line & Fronx Turbo offer
  • Engine may not be as refined as rivals under full acceleration
  • Paint scheme and graphics could have been better

Smart-looking hatchback goes sporty 8

• The Altroz Racer retains the same dimensions as the regular model. It is a sub 4m premium hatchback and runs on 16-inch alloy wheels.
• Centrally placed racing stripes, a blacked-out roof, and striking colour contrasts scream aggression. You also get a revised front grill and a dual-tip exhaust for that turbo petrol grunt.
• The Racer offers the same alloy design but is painted in a black tone. The blacked-out A and B pillars add to that Racer touch. Further, the tailgate gets the iTurbo badging, while the front fenders get the 'Racer' badging as well.
• Tata offers the Altroz Racer in three color options: Atomic Orange, Avenue White, and Pure Grey. All three shades have a black roof as standard.

• The Altroz Racer retains the same cabin design as the regular model. However, color combination is different with a sporty black and orange theme. The contrast orange shade can be seen around the air-con vents and gear lever.
• The Racer has black Leatherette seat covers with white and orange stripes. The front seats are ventilated as well.
• The Racer offers a spacious cabin for 5 adults with easy ingress and egress thanks to doors that open almost 90 degree wide.
• The Altroz Racer's digital speedometer console is new and displays a host of functions for the driver. This and the updated infotainment screen make the Altroz Racer a technologically improved hatchback

Gets much needed performance boost 9

• The Altroz Racer is a step up from the Altroz iTurbo in terms of performance. The turbocharged engine now puts out 10PS of more power and 30Nm of extra torque. At 120 PS / 170 Nm, the Racer is as powerful as the Hyundai i20 N Line.
• This 3 cylinder engine is same as the Nexon petrol with a similar output. It gets a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic is not offered as of now.
• Tata’s engineers have tuned the exhaust for a sporty note and this is one of the USPs over the earlier Altroz iTurbo.
• The NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) level has further decreased, and cabin refinement has gone up slightly.
