Tesla Model Y Detailed Review
- As this is the first ever Tesla car to launch in India, Model Y is in its second generation with an updated styling and battery specifications. This car features an fluidic design that takes its aerodynamic levels to another level - and the front profile features a light bar which will remind you of their flagship - Cybertruck. Overall, the Model Y design plays a huge role in improving its range, performance and longevity.
- Its bodystyle is new for India – Fastback SUV – which refers to a car that has a high stance, but the roofline slopes down smoothly, creating a resemblance to coupe SUVs. However, they have more height. These cars provide sedan-like driving dynamics but with SUV-like space.
- The dimensions of this electric car are: Length - 4,790 mm, Width - 1,982 mm, Height - 1,642 mm, and it weighs 1,901 kg. These figures confirm that it’s a large vehicle, typical of American cars. The images also suggest it will have a strong road presence and is likely to appeal to Indian buyers.
- Another extra-cost detail about the Tesla Model Y is its colour options. It’s available in six shades, with the base Stealth Grey included at no extra cost. However, the rest come with additional charges: Pearl White Multi-Coat and Diamond Black cost Rs 95,000 each, Glacier Blue is priced at Rs 1,25,000, while Quicksilver and Ultra Red are the most expensive at Rs 1,85,000 each.
Model Y body specifications:
| Wheel Size | R19 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Ground Clearance | 167 mm |
| Boot Space | 2138 liters |

- Model Y is a 5-seater fastback SUV featuring a dual-tone interior and a large panoramic glass roof that floods the cabin with natural light, creating an incredibly open feel. Like every other Tesla, it has minimal physical buttons, with most functions controlled via the giant central touchscreen.
- The three-spoke steering wheel features two toggle switches - one for each thumb - functioning similarly to a PlayStation remote. Additionally, the doors open electrically, with no traditional handles; instead, there's a switch placed on each door for easy access.
- The interior of Model Y is minimalistic with elegant touches and unlike any other car, as there is just one big screen in the middle of the dashboard that acts as the main control hub. Below this massive 15.4 Inch screen runs a long central console area that is wide and also offers two slanting wireless charging pads, and it ends at the rear with another 8 Inch screen - placed only for the rear passengers’ entertainment.
- The front seats come with power recline, heating, and ventilation functions, while the rear seats also get power-folding and heating functions. To add more, the overall cargo space Model Y offers is 2,138 litres, which is insane.
- Model Y comes standard with Heated seats, heated steering and heated windshield, air filtration system, custom driver profiles with automatic easy-entry and exit, tinted glass roof and ultraviolet and infrared protection on all glass.
- ADAS Suite is there with - Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Lane Departure Avoidance. To add more, in future - full self driving mode will be activated in this vehicle. If customers want that features - they need to pay Rs 6,00,000 which is added on.
- A total of 8 cameras are provided, including a new front-facing camera that also functions as a dash cam.
- There are two screens inside - a 15.4-inch and an 8-inch display. The first one acts as the main control hub for all vehicle functions, including navigation, media, and climate control. It replaces traditional buttons and dials, offering a sleek, minimalist interface. The display also shows real-time vehicle data, maps, and streaming apps, enhancing the connected driving experience.
- The latter controls rear seat functions like climate and media, and is Bluetooth-enabled for seamless device connectivity. This screen adds to the premium in-cabin experience, especially for rear occupants. Passengers will have the option of accessing Netflix, YouTube, and other platforms through Tesla Theater, and dive into gaming with Arcade.
Model Y features:
| TPMS | No |
| Wireless Charger | Yes - Front |
| Ventilated Seats | Front Row |
- The Rear Wheel Drive or the base trim has a 500 km WLTP range on offer, and it can do 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
- Long Range trim has a claimed WLTP range of 622 km, while it's marginally faster - doing 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. That said, both of these trims have the same top speed of 201 km/h. To add more, at the moment, there is no information about the battery pack it's carrying - but we know that these variants have a single motor setup.
- As per the Tesla official site, the rear-wheel drive variant can gain up to 238 km of range in just 15 minutes using a 175 kW Supercharger. The top-spec Long Range variant, on the other hand, can add up to 267 km in the same time with a 250 kW Supercharger.
