Honda City Exterior
From the first glance, it looks different as the grille to bumper have redesigned and now the face looks sharper. To be specific, Honda added diamond chequered front grille and carbon wrapped front bumper, which makes a statement. Although, the carbon is not a real carbon fibre, its an plastic, just to be clear. Talking about the lights, they are same as before, however, the area where fog lamps resides are different, and a more anuglar shape has been given to them.
Comparing it to the previous model, it had a simpler chrome grille and body-colored painted bumper, which was more focused on being elegant.
If we move to the side, apart from the design of the R16 diamond-cut alloy wheels, nothing has changed. From the rear, the bumper again adds to the sporty aesthetics by resembling a carbon fiber diffuser found in performance variant cars. Again, its plastic, but from a distance, it looks really cool. The reflector lights have also changed position, now settled in the diffuser-like bumper.
The tail-light remains the same; however, the top trim now gets a boot-lid spoiler, which adds another layer of sportiness to the facelift of the Honda City.
Honda City Interior
Inside the overall layout is completely same, and Honda didn't change anything in terms of design. However, the changes happened in terms of features. For starters the 8-inch touchscreen software has been updated, which transaltes to a faster touchscreen system with improved resolution. To add more, now it gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
However, the best news is that the reverse parking camera quality has gone up. Now, owners won't complaint about the poor camera quality that deteriortes further when the sun goes down. Honda City previous model touchscreen system was a big drawback, now the automaker has corrected their mistakes.
Also, the wireless charging pad is present, but its placement is odd, as it takes the place of the cupholders and feels like an aftermarket product. Additionally, ambient lighting is present in the front door handles and front door pockets.
Honda City Feature Update
A major update on this model is the installation of Level 1 ADAS, which reads the road via a camera rather than radar. The big news is that this technology starts from the second variant, "V," which costs Rs 12.70 lakh ex-showroom. Now, let's check out all the features included in the ADAS:
- Collision mitigation braking system
- Road departure mitigation system
- Lane keeping assist system
- Adaptive cruise control system
- Auto high-beam
- Lead car departure notification system
Honda City Powertrain
The engine remains the same, but Honda has omitted its 1.5 L diesel engine, which was known for its fuel efficiency. That said, the 1.5 L i-VTEC has enough grunt to put diesel cars in the rearview mirror, thanks to its free-spirited nature and ability to reach 6800 RPM. Additionally, each gear is so long that in traffic, there's no need to shift; you can stay in one gear and it will handle the rest.
For example, the top speed in 2nd gear of the Honda City is 100 km/h, and in 3rd gear, it's 155 km/h. Talking about the specifications, it produces 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque and can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission (MT) or a CVT.
