Tata Safari Top Features

Gesture Controlled Power Tailgate

The tailgate of the Tata Safari opens automatically if you use your foot and swirl it around the bumper. It will detect you and open the tailgate. This feature comes in handy when your hands are full and no one is around to help with the luggage. Additionally, after folding the third-row seats, 420 liters of boot space are available.

Variants Avaialble

The Tata Safari gets this feature in the Accomplished trim onwards, and it costs Rs 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Other features in this trim include fog lamps, R19 diamond-cut alloy wheels, ventilated front-row seats, and 9 JBL speakers.

Competitors With the Same Feature

The true competitors of the Tata Safari are the Mahindra XUV700 and the Toyota Innova Hycross, and neither of them offers this gesture-controlled power tailgate. However, the Innova Hycross does have a power tailgate, while in the XUV700, you have to operate it manually.

Adjustable Co-Driver Seat

If the person sitting in the second-row left seat is above 6 feet and isn't comfortable with the legroom, they can move the seat ahead of them using the buttons present on the side bolsters of the seat. Additionally, it is 4-way adjustable with an electric boss mode. This is only availble for the passenger seat.

Variants Available

Like the powered tailgate feature, this is also available in the Accomplished trim, which starts at Rs 23.99 lakh and costs around Rs 29 lakh.

Competitiors With the Same Feature

In 2024, Mahindra updated the XUV700 and added captain seats in the back. Now you can adjust the legroom of the second-row left seat, but it is done manually. On the other hand, Toyota doesn't offer this boss mode setting, but you can electrically recline your seats and extend your footrest via powered ottoman seats. Overall, the real seat comfort is miles ahead in Innova Hycross, than its rivals.

Rear Ventilated Seats

The Tata Safari has transcended from an off-road king to a chauffeur-driven luxury SUV, and that's because the company has focused a lot on its rear seat experience. For example, in the second-row seats, you get ventilated captain seats, which cool you down instantly when you step inside from the scorching heat. A lot of cars today offer front ventilated seats, but rarely you'll find this feature in the second row.

Variants Avaialble

The second-row ventilated seats option is available in the Accomplished Plus trim, the second top model in the lineup, which costs Rs 25.49 lakh ex-showroom.

Competitiors With the Same Feature

Unfortunately, none of its competitors offer the second-row ventilation feature in any of their trims.

Dual Zone Climate Control

Dual Zone Climate Control

The 2024 facelift gave the Tata Safari voice assisted dual-zone climate control feature, which was much needed in a vehicle with such a large body. People in the front can now adjust the temperatures according to their own preferences. Additionally, the front seats are also ventilated.

However, neither the second row nor the third row has this feature. In fact, you don't even get a single-zone climate control in these rows, which is a disappointment considering the vehicle can accommodate 6 to 7 people.

Variants Available

Again, this is available from the Accomplished trim onwards, and the ex-showroom price of this variant is Rs 23.99 lakh.

Competitiors With the Same Feature

The Mahindra XUV700 does come with dual-zone climate control, and it is also voice-assisted. However, the Toyota Innova Hycross does not. On the other hand, the Innova Hycross has automatic AC controls for the second row, which is missing in the other two.

ADAS With 11 Key Features

ADAS Level 2 in Tata Safari

In the Tata Safari, you'll get Level 2 ADAS, which allows autonomous driving to a certain extent. It operates through a camera placed at the top of the windshield and detects the road ahead. Additionally, it includes safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Collision Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert, and Door Open Alert.

Variants Available

The ADAS is available with the Adventure Plus A trim, which starts at Rs 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competitiors With the Same Feature

Both of its competitors offer ADAS features, but there is a difference. In the Mahindra XUV700, you get Level 2 ADAS, whereas in the Toyota Innova Hycross, you only have Level 1 ADAS, which is assisted by all the sensors in the car.

Verdict

The 2024 Tata Safari is a head-turner, with its R19 diamond-cut alloys and striking paint options, along with connecting DRLs that perform a welcome dance whenever you lock or unlock the car. This has significantly impacted the sales of the Mahindra XUV700, and people are also opting for the Safari over the Harrier, as it is a more practical choice. Additionally, there are several first-in-class segment features that make it a super-luxurious vehicle capable of off-road driving.
