Variant Recommendation
The base variant of the Mahindra Scorpio N is the Z2, but it lacks many features, making it not the recommended choice. If you're working within a budget and looking for a 4WD SUV, the Z4 variant is worth considering as it stands out as one of the most affordable 4WD options for this SUV. The Z6 variant is another viable option for budget-conscious buyers seeking essential features. For those seeking a balanced package with good value, the Z8 is a recommended variant, offering a decent array of features along with options for both engines and a 4WD drivetrain. Beyond the Z8, opting for the Z8L is a choice that provides customers with all the desirable feel-good features.

Expert Verdict on Scorpio N
The Mahindra Scorpio N is a complete SUV with a big stance, robust engine options, and a 4WD option. It continues the legacy of the renowned Scorpio SUV, and the Scorpio N embodies the essence of a true Mahindra vehicle. Its substantial dimensions, coupled with a formidable diesel engine and proprietary suspension system, position it as a standout contender in its segment. Furthermore, the Scorpio N introduces a lavish interior, addressing a previous shortcoming in the older Scorpio model.

Pros & Cons of Mahindra Scorpio N
Should I buy the Scorpio N?
If you're in the market for a substantial SUV equipped with a 4WD drivetrain, potent engines, and a comprehensive set of features, the Mahindra Scorpio N presents itself as a compelling option. It boasts a commanding SUV presence and a robust mechanical configuration. On the other hand, if you prioritize a more upscale cabin, enhanced fuel efficiency, and reliable after-sales support, the Hyundai Alcazar is worth considering.
- The design of the Scorpio N undeniably reflects an evolution, showcasing a distinctly muscular aesthetic. This is attributed to its robust wheel arches, sweeping bonnet, imposing stance, and well-defined body creases.
- The vehicle offers the familiar aura of the classic Scorpio, commanding attention on the road with its presence. While it doesn't push the boundaries of edginess, its design is generally likeable.
- The front end, enhanced with chrome accents, exudes sophistication. The rear, featuring vertically stacked LED tail lamps, bears a resemblance to Volvo vehicles. Overall, the Scorpio N has undergone a noticeable transformation in terms of design, resulting in an appealing and grown-up aesthetic.
Scorpio N body specifications:
Wheel Size | R17 & R18 |
Seating Capacity | 7 & 6 seaters |
Ground Clearance | 187 mm |
Boot Space | 786 liters |
- The Mahindra Scorpio N presents two engine options to cater to diverse driving preferences. The 2.0-liter mStallion turbo-petrol engine delivers a robust 200 bhp and 370 Nm of torque (380 Nm for the automatic variant).
- On the other hand, the 2.0-liter mHawk diesel engine provides versatility with two tuning options: 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, and a more powerful configuration boasting 172 bhp and 370 Nm of torque (400 Nm for the automatic variant). Both engines are paired with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
- The diesel engine stands out for its commendable torque delivery across various speed ranges, ensuring a responsive performance. Additionally, it contributes to a refined driving experience, complemented by well-contained NVH levels. The Scorpio N offers a versatile and powerful engine lineup, providing drivers with options that align with their performance and driving preferences.
Scorpio N engine specifications:
Transmission | Manual & Automatic (TC) |
Mileage | 13 kmpl to 19 kmpl |
Engine | 1997-2184 cc |
Power | 172.4 bhp @ 3500 rpm |
Torque | 400 Nm @ 1750-2750 rpm |
Drive Train | RWD & AWD |
- In terms of design, the Mahindra Scorpio N's cabin is visually appealing. While the dashboard design maintains a straightforward approach with a touch of Scorpio Classic aesthetics, it incorporates modern elements for a contemporary feel. The piano black finish on the center console further enhances the overall visual appeal.
- Apart from the captain seats in the second row, the Scorpio N comes equipped with notable features such as an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, drive modes, a new touchscreen infotainment system, a Sony music system, and AdrenoX connected car technology. The SUV has undergone a significant transformation, exuding a premium and grown-up vibe when experienced from within.
- When it comes to safety, the Scorpio N leaves no stone unturned. It boasts an extensive array of safety features, including six airbags, ABS+EBD, ESC, hill hold and descent control, TPMS, all-wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX, front and rear parking sensors with cameras, an E-Call and SOS Switch, and driver drowsiness detection. Impressively, the Scorpio N has been awarded a 5-star safety rating in the GNCAP, reinforcing its commitment to passenger safety.
- The low-speed ride experience of this body-on-frame SUV can be described as somewhat jiggly and unstable, particularly when the vehicle is not carrying any load. Nevertheless, the body movement in the Scorpio-N shows greater restraint compared to the Scorpio Classic. Notably, the Scorpio-N excels in handling potholes and rough roads. While other vehicles cautiously navigate at 10-15 km/h to protect their suspension, the Scorpio-N effortlessly glides over rough patches at 50 km/h, showcasing its abuse-friendly suspension, as expected from a Mahindra.
- At highway speeds, the ride becomes notably smoother. The Scorpio-N effectively controls vertical movement, and expansion joints are handled with finesse, making highway cruising a seamless experience.
- Due to the car's height, there is evident body roll when maneuvering swiftly around curves. However, what stands out is that when maintaining speed through a corner in the Scorpio-N, the roll is less pronounced than in the Scorpio Classic, creating a more stable and comfortable feel.

- GGursimrat29 Days agoOutstanding Family Car Experience4.8It's a great car that has everything that was required for me and my family. Space, comfort, safety and performance. The quality is top notch from inside out and so is the power on tap. There are a few shortcomings as well, for example it either loses on many features compared to it's siblings from Mahindra like no 360° cameras, ADAS (present in both xuv700 and Thar Roxx); moreover compared to Scorpio Classic, it doesn't even get dedicated bulbs for the cornering function, the fog lamps double up to aid that feature but it is useless practically. Other than that, it's a phenomenal car that offers so much for the price it is listed at. No wonder it tops the sales charts. The ownership experience has been flawless so far. The car is a competent mileage muncher. I've completed 13,000+ kms in just 4 months of ownership. The running costs have been pretty reasonable so far. It returns around 15-16 kmpl on highways and the service costs aren't too high either. All in all it's a terrific that offers something for almost everyone!LikeReplyRead more

- AAr1 Month ago4.0Scorpio-N: Modern Rugged SUVThe Mahindra Scorpio N is a big step up from the older scorpio we all grew up seeing. It still keeps that rough-and-tough attitude, but now with a cleaner, more modern twist that feels more refined without losing the real suv feel. Design & road presence first things first, this thing looks big. On the road, it has serious presence. The new grille, the led drls and the muscular stance give it a premium suv vibe. It’s not flashy in a show-off way, but bold in a “i’m not here to mess around” kind of way. Mahindra’s done a good job keeping it aggressive but not overdone. Interiors & comfort Step inside, and you’ll see a major difference from the older scorpio. The cabin feels well put-together, with soft-touch materials, a decent infotainment screen and even a sunroof. Space is generous in the front and middle rows. The third row, like most suvs in this segment, is best left for short trips or kids. Performance & ride quality The scorpio n comes with both petrol and diesel options and you can tell they’ve worked on refinement. The diesel in particular has a solid pull and feels like it can handle highways and hills with ease. Ride quality has improved, it’s still a ladder-on-frame suv so you’ll feel bumps more than a crossover, but it’s surprisingly composed now. Handling isn’t sharp like a sedan, but for a big suv, it’s confidence-inspiring. Off-road ability this is where the scorpio n shines. If you opt for the 4x4 variant, it’s ready for serious off-road trails. It has different terrain modes, and the approach and departure angles are genuinely useful. It’s a proper suv for people who actually want to explore beyond city limits. Mileage & practicality Fuel efficiency is decent for its size nothing to brag about, but not a deal-breaker either. The boot space with all rows up is limited, but if you fold the last row, there’s plenty of space for luggage. Verdict The scorpio-n is not trying to be a soft, urban crossover. It’s meant for people who want a strong, capable suv with modern features and a commanding road presence. It brings back that old-school suv feeling but wraps it in a more polished, everyday package. If you're looking for something that can handle bad roads, long drives, and still look good in a city parking lot, this one’s worth a serious look.LikeReplyRead more
