TVS Jupiter 125 Pros

Refined Engine and Performance

tvs jupiter 125 orange front three quarters

The Jupiter 125 sources its power from a 124.8 cc air-cooled engine which is reliable enough and feels quite refined. The powerhouse produces 8.04 bhp of power and 10.5 Nm of torque. However, this machine doesn't deliver best-in-class power figures. While it feels satisfying to drive at speeds between 30 to 60 kmph, you can easily take this scooter to the 70 kmph mark without any effort. Even at the top speed of 95 kmph, the engine doesn't feel under pressure or struggle.

  • ARAI claimed Mileage: 50 kmpl
  • Fuel tank: 5.1 litre

Competition check: Honda Dio 125 and Suzuki Avenis are the closest rivals of the Jupiter 125. Both these scooters provide reliable engines and similar power figures. However, with its ET--Fi technology, the Jupiter 125 enables a better fuel economy.

Comfortable Ride Quality

The TVS Jupiter 125 excels in providing comfortable ride quality. The scooter gets an efficient suspension system that easily absorbs shocks. So, you are not going to face any sort of discomfort while riding on uneven road patches. In addition to this, the Jupiter 125 comes with a wide and spacious seat which doesn't let you feel tired during long commutes.

Competition check: Other offerings in the segment and primary rivals of this Jupiter 125 also offer great ride quality. But the Jupiter could be slightly better than its rivals in terms of ride quality because of its ergonomics and an efficient suspension system.

Abundance of Storage Space

The Jupiter 125 provides a class-leading storage space when compared to its rivals. The Jupiter 125 gets a 33-litre under-seat storage. Giving you guys a better perspective, you can easily carry a backpack, helmet and some other necessities such as water bottles in this scooter. Also, if you are the one who carries heavy groceries, the Jupiter 125 can make this task easy for you.

Competition check: Talking about the competition, the Honda Activa gets a smaller 18 litre and the Suzuki Avenis 125 also gets a decent 21.8 litre of underseat storage. As you can see, no other scooter in the category stacks against the Jupiter 125 well in terms of storage space.

Convenience on offer

TVS Jupiter 125

The Jupiter 125 gets some class-leading features that put it ahead in its segment. The scooter gets an external fuel filler which opens with a multi-functional key hole. Also, there are features such as a USB charging port, parking brake and a flexible boot lamp. A unique feature on offer with the Jupiter 125's centre stand assist which provides assistance while putting it on the main stand and it proves helpful for senior citizens and women users.

Competition check: The Jupiter 125 has some unique features to showcase which we don't see in any of its rivals in the category. While products like the Suzuki Avenis 125 offer a decent set of features, it's not comparable to the convenience provided by the Jupiter 125.

Great Styling and Design

TVS Jupiter 125

The Jupiter 125 features an attractive design and styling which helps it easily differentiate from its rivals. The 125cc scooter features LED lighting and chrome accents. Overall, the Jupiter 125 exudes a modern look that looks simply better than all its competitors.

Competition check: However, the design always remains a subjective aspect that depends on individual preferences. Considering its competitors, I can say that Jupiter 125 has a very soft and classy design which we expect in this segment. There is no radical design element that makes this scooter a better choice.

TVS Jupiter 125 Cons

Lacks Advanced Features

TVS Jupiter 125

Though TVS Jupiter offers a decent set of features, it misses out on some advanced features such as Bluetooth connectivity. The TVS SmartXonnect tech is limited to the top-end variant and this can be a disadvantage of this scooter. Instead, the Jupiter 125 gets a small LCD panel that displays all the ride-related information such as fuel efficiency and low fuel indicator.

Competition check: Jupiter 125's rivals such as Honda Activa 6G and Suzuki Access 125 get smarty features such as Bluetooth connectivity features and this is the area where Jupiter 125 fails to dominate.

Braking Not so Impressive

However, there are disc brakes on offer with the second base variant, TVS doesn't offer them in the base variant of the Jupiter 125. This can be a disadvantage for budget-conscious who have limited money to spend.

Competition check: The Honda Activa 6G offers disc brakes as standard and that too at a similar price tag. So, here I would suggest TVS not cut some crucial features for the sake of cost-cutting.

Engine Vibration

TVS Jupiter 125

Yes, I mentioned this one in the pros part, but as every coin has two aspects this engine has its problems too. The powerhouse on offer feels quite noisy at high revs and you can't avoid vibrations. Here, I'm not saying that the powerhouse fails to manage higher speeds, but it could be improved with a retune. Here, you should also note that the Jupiter 125 is a commute-focused two-wheeler, rather than being a high-end racing machine. So expecting high performance from this scooter is not a logical thing.

Competition check: The Suzuki Avenis 125 and Access offer a better-tuned engine that behaves better than the Jupiter 125. Especially on the high-revs, you can get better performance from the mentioned rivals.

Verdict

At a price tag of Rs. 98,001, the TVS Jupiter 125 is a solid contender in the 125cc scooter segment, offering a refined engine, comfortable ride, ample storage, and unique convenience features. However, it falls short with its lack of advanced features like Bluetooth connectivity and unimpressive braking on the base variant. Despite minor engine vibrations, it remains a practical and value-for-money choice in the segment.
