TVS Raider 125 Pros and Cons

Pro 1: Engine and Speed

The TVS Raider comes packed with a 124.8 cc three-valve with air and oiled-cooled engine, which generates 11.2 bhp and 11.2 Nm. The powerhouse on offer comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. As for acceleration, this motorcycle can go from a standstill to 60 kmph in just 5.9 seconds. I got a chance to experience the Raider's ride and seriously TVS has done a great job when it comes to engine refinement.

Pro 2: Features

The Raider 125 offers two riding modes- Eco and Power. Though these are self-explanatory terms, I must tell you that the power mode is optimised to provide 10 per cent more power output when you take this motorcycle at higher rpms. Also, there is no lack of features on this commuter as it gets a digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and that too with the TVS's own SmartXonnect tech. You can access ride-related information such as the distance to empty, average speed, trip meter, integrated Started Generator and much more. This stuff is on offer at this price point! mind blowing right? now let me tell you that this Bluetooth connectivity and SmartXonnect tech is only offered with the top-end trim.

Pro 3: Comfort

The third pro and one of the biggest advantages of this motorcycle is the comfort that it provides. It is appreciable that TVS Motors has managed to offer a great level of comfort despite giving this bike a sporty characteristic. It offers the rider an upright posture which provides a comfortable ride during long commutes. The motorcycle gets a split seat design which offers a good space for the rider and pillion as well.

Pro 4: Fuel Efficiency

The TVS Raider comes with a 10-litre fuel tank, the Raider 125 can easily provide you a range of 570 kmpl in a single fill. Talking specifically, this motorcycle gives an average fuel economy of 56.7 kmpl which is really impressive. While the above-mentioned mileage is the ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency, during our test we managed to get around 52 kmpl in the city traffic situations.

Pro 5: Design

The TVS Raider comes with a sculpted fuel tank, and sharp edges suit well on the Raider 125. Overall, the Raider 125 is a sporty-looking commuter. Also, there are various colour options which include Fiery Yellow, Blazing Red, Striking Red and Wicked Black. So, I have no complaints, especially about the design.

TVS Raider 125 Cons

Con 1: Low Build Quality

TVS Raider 125

The company has used very bad quality fibre in most of the areas which is not expected from a brand like TVS. So, if you are the one who prioritises building along with riding convenience and design, the Raider 125 is not for you.

Con 2: Radical Design

TVS Raider 125

Now you might be thinking why I'm mentioning the design part in the cons despite mentioning the same in the pros. However for some, the sporty design of the Raider 125 can be a good point, but for some people on the other, it can be a deal-breaker. It is because a buyer going for a 125cc motorcycle usually doesn't expect a sporty design language and a sculpted motorcycle. So, this is a con for some but not for all.

Con 3: Average Braking System

The Raider's braking system is not the best one that we get in the segment. I'm saying this because it lacks ABS which is on offer with its straight rival, Hero Xtreme 125R. Instead, the Raider 125 gets a combined braking system. Also, the suspension is not so impressive and you will feel the ride a bit bumpy while crossing even small potholes and speed breakers.

Verdict

The TVS Raider 125 stands out in the 125cc segment with its sporty design, impressive fuel efficiency, and comfortable ride. It features a refined engine and advanced tech like Bluetooth connectivity. However, its low build quality, polarizing design, and lack of ABS could be deal-breakers for some. Overall, it's a solid choice for youthful riders seeking style and performance.
