Vida V2 Vs Vida V1: Old Vs New

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Vida V2 is essentially a rebranded V1 with the same design.
  • The V2 also introduces a newer, more affordable variant called 'Lite'.
  • All variants retain the same electric motor setup with identical output figures.
  • The features list is nearly identical across all variants.
  • The battery and range specs are a few differentiators between the variants.

Hero MotoCorp chose to enter the Indian electric scooter segment with the Vida sub-brand. While things seemed slow initially, Vida now seems to be catching up to its rivals. The Vida V2 was launched recently, which basically retains a lot of elements from the outgoing V1, but with the newer variant it has now become more accessible to buyers.

Let's take a quick look at how the Vida V2 differentiates itself from the outgoing V1, but before anything else, make sure to join the 91wheels WhatsApp Community to keep up with the latest news and updates from the automotive space.

Vida V2 Vs Vida V1: Old Vs New - How Different Are They?

Design

Visually, there is not much to differentiate between the V1 and the V2, as they retain the same design. However, a closer look will reveal one small change; the redesigned handlebar shroud. The rest of the design remains identical to the outgoing V1, featuring the funky headlight, the smooth and clutter-free body panels, split-seat setup, and the funky-looking rear.

One major differentiating factor would be colour schemes; buyers can choose between four colour options on the V2 Lite, five on the V2 Plus, and seven on the V2 Pro. Moreover, the Glossy Sports Red now gets a bosy-painted front apron, along with gloss-black finished body panels instead of grey.

Powertrain and Battery

The launch of the V2 also brings forth a newer, more affordable variant called the V2 Lite. The outgoing V1 was available in only two variants; the Plus and the Pro. In fact, the V1 Plus was out of sale for quite a while, and it was reintroduced sometime last year. The V1 Plus and Pro shared the same PMSM electric motor, producing 8bhp (peak) and 25Nm of torque. Both variants also reached the same claimed top speed of 80kmph.

In the V2's case, all three variants retain the same PMSM electric motor, and it continues to produce 8bhp and 25Nm of torque. However, there have been a few changes in some specifications here and there. The V2 Plus now reaches a claimed top speed of 85kmph, while the V2 Pro gets a claimed top speed of 90kmph. As for the V2 Lite, it reaches a claimed top speed of 69kmph. Nice.

Similar to the V1 Plus and Pro, the V2 Plus and Pro also come with a 3.44kWh and a 3.94kWh battery pack respectively. The range figures and even the charging times between the Plus and Pro variants of the V1 and V2 are identical as well. Here's a table listing the battery, range and charging figures between all the three variants of the V2.

Features

Between the V1 and the V2, there are no major additions or changes to the equipment list, and both scooters remain identical in terms of features. In fact, a lot of the features continue to be common between all three variants. These include 7-inch TFT cluster with OTA updates and day/night modes, along with follow-me headlights, keyless system, cruise control, electronic seat and handle lock, two-way throttle for regen and reverse, and incoming call alerts.

One major differentiating factor between the three variants is the availability of ride modes. The V2 Lite comes only with two ride modes; eco and ride. The V2 Plus comes with an additional 'sport' mode, while the V2 Pro rounds things off with a 'custom' mode, adding a total of four modes.

Verdict

The rebranding of the Vida's electric scooter should help generate some more interest around it. There are no major changes between the V1 and the V2, and that might be a good things considering that this scooter was just beginning to become a familiar sight on roads.
