The BMW G310 Series comprises of the G310 R, which is a naked streetfighter and the G310 GS, which is an adventure tourer. When we talk about affordable adventure tourers, the KTM 390 Adventure first comes in our mind as it is one of the most affordable adventure tourers in India. However, the new 2020 BMW G310 GS BS6 undercuts the KTM 390 Adventure in pricing and so the nation wants to know how well do these adventure motorcycles fare against each other. BMW G310 GS BS6 vs KTM 390 Adventure: Looks and Colour Options

Both these adventure motorcycles get an all-LED headlamp with daytime-running LEDs. They also get LED taillamps and even LED turn indicators. BMW G310 GS BS6 vs KTM 390 Adventure: Engine, Transmission and Mileage

The new 2020 BMW G310 GS is powered by a BS6-compliant 313cc single-cylinder, liquid/water-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 34 PS of power at 9500 RPM and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7500 RPM. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new G310 GS BS6 also gets ride-by-wire throttle technology and an 'electronic throttle grip' (electromotive throttle controller) for improved throttle response. It will deliver around 30-35 kmpl of mileage in real-world conditions.

The new KTM 390 Adventure is powered by a BS6-compliant 373.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. It churns out 43.5 PS of power at 9000 RPM and 37 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The KTM 390 Adventure BS6 delivers around 30-35 kmpl of mileage in real-world conditions. The BMW G310 GS rides on radial tubeless tyres. The front tyre is a 110/80 section 19-inch unit while at the rear, it gets a 150/70 section 17-inch tyre. Talking about features, the new G310 GS BS6 gets an all-digital instrument cluster loaded with a ton of information. It now also gets an assist & slipper clutch and four-step adjustable brake and clutch levers. The G310 GS gets 41 mm USD front forks and a pre-load adjustable mono-shock absorber at the rear. For braking duties, it gets 300 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. The motorcycle is equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard. 

KTM 390 Adventure BS6's Instrument Cluster

The KTM 390 Adventure gets Metzeler Tourance tubeless tyres. The front tyre is a 100/90 section 19-inch unit while at the rear, it gets a 130/80 section 17-inch tyre. It gets WP Apex 43 mm upside-down forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable mono-shock absorber at the rear. For braking duties, it gets a 320 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear. It also gets KTM's off-road ABS. Talking about features, the KTM 390 Adventure gets cornering ABS, slipper clutch, bi-directional quickshifter and even traction control. It also gets a 5.0-inch TFT instrument cluster that displays a ton of information including digital speedometer, tachometer, trip meters, etc.

The new 2020 BMW G310 GS BS6 is priced at Rs. 2.85 lakhs. However, its new Kyanite Blue Metallic (Style Rallye) colour variant demands 6,000 rupees premium and is priced at Rs. 2.91 lakhs. The KTM 390 Adventure BS6, on the other hand, is priced at Rs. 3.05 lakhs. All prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi. Finally, talking about the verdict, so if you want a good-looking adventure tourer with decent performance, loads of features and BMW's brand value, then you should consider buying the new G310 GS BS6. But, if you want a handsome touring motorcycle with good performance, decent mileage, top-notch features, a host of electronic aids and widespread sales & service network, then you should get the new KTM 390 Adventure BS6.
