What's New?
With the launch of the third-generation model of the X3, the brand introduced a number of changes in the overall package. the car now gets a better looking front fascia, larger wheelbase and a number of other styling tweaks which make it look better than before. The engines are now BS6 compliant and the interiors too feel more luxurious and feature-rich. In all, the 3rd-gen BMW X3 is a much better product and has upped the game for its rivals.

Engine, Gearbox, and Performance
The 2020 BMW X3 BS6 gets two engine options - 2.0-L petrol and a 2.0-L diesel. Starting with petrol first, the 1998 cc turbocharged engine produces 252 hp and 350 Nm of peak torque output while it comes mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. The power from the motor is channeled to all four wheels via the xDrive intelligent 4WD drivetrain. The ARAI claimed mileage figures from this engine stand at 13.17 kmpl.
The second engine on offer is the twin-turbo 2.0-L diesel engine that churns out a maximum power of 190 hp while the maximum torque output stands at 400 Nm. This engine too comes mated to a 8-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox while the power is channeled to all four wheels with the BMW xDrive intelligent 4WD drivetrain. When compared to the petrol motor, this engine returns slightly better fuel economy figures at around 16.55 kmpl.
Exterior Looks and Design
The BMW X3 gets a bold and aggressive front end, all thanks to the large kidney grilles and dominating headlamp design. With the overall dimensions being similar, the car does get a longer wheelbase which has improved the overall side stance of the car. The rear however retails its subtle look and features new L-shaped tail-lamps.
Interiors and Features
The cabin of the X3 feels premium and spacious. The seats are comfortable and there are plenty of storage spaces around the cabin. The layout of the dashboard looks nice and the tilt of the controls towards the driver further increases the practicality and functionality. There are soft-to-touch plastics in the cabin and the center console too feels nicely put together. There are plenty of features inside the cabin such as touch-and-gesture controlled iDrive infotainment system, heads-up display, 360-degree camera, and many more modern gizmos.
