The Bimmers are acclaimed not only for their opulent interiors but also for their ballistic performance and superb driving characteristics. In 1999, BMW ventured into the SUV segment with the X5 and it became an instant hit. The X5 is referred to as an 'SAV' or a 'Sports Activity Vehicle'. It was first launched in India in 2007 and recently the fourth-generation X5 was launched in the country. So, today we have for you the First Look Review of the new 2020 BMW X5.
2020 BMW X5: Looks and Colour Options
The BMW X5 is a really handsome looking SUV. The new X5 adopts BMW's latest design philosophy and has a macho appeal. At the front, the SUV gets massive kidney grilles, BMW Laser headlights and sporty bumpers. From the side profile, the sheer dimensions of the X5 can be seen and it also gets chrome strip surrounding the window line that looks good. The X5 rides on 19-inch alloys but you can also choose 20-inch ones. At the rear, it gets new all-LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, shark-fin antenna, etc. Overall, the new BMW X5 looks well proportionate and it has a striking appeal and muscular road presence. The X5 is offered in five colour variants: Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Carbon Black, Phytonic Blue and Arctic Grey.

2020 BMW X5: Engine and Transmission
The new fourth-generation BMW X5 is offered with two engine options in India: xDrive30d and xDrive40i. The xDrive30d is a 3.0-litre twin-power turbo six-cylinder diesel engine. This oil-burner churns out 265 PS of power at 4000 RPM and a whopping 620 Nm of torque between 1500-2500 RPM. The xDrive40i, on the other hand, is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine. This twin-power turbo petrol motor pumps out 340 PS of power between 5500-6500 RPM and 450 Nm of torque between 1500-5200 RPM. Both the engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and get BMW's unique version of the all-wheel-drive system called xDrive as standard.
2020 BMW X5: Interiors and Features
The BMW X5 is loaded with features up to the brim. The new X5 gets a driver-centric dashboard and taking the centre stage of the dashboard is a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets BMW's latest iDrive system and the infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay connectivity. Some other features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon audio system, panoramic sunroof, etc. Talking about safety features, it gets up to six airbags, ABS with Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree surround-view camera and many more.
2020 BMW X5: Price and Rivals
The new 2020 BMW X5 is sold in India in three variants: SportX, xLine and M Sport. The prices of the new X5 range between Rs. 74.90 lakhs - Rs. 84.40 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. It rivals the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Range Rover Velar, Volvo XC90 and the Jaguar F-Pace in the Indian market. The variant-wise prices of the new BMW X5 are mentioned in the table below:
