The popularity of SUVs is such that every carmaker wants a taste of it. Currently, the compact and mid-size SUVs are trending and carmakers are bringing in their products to enjoy the market share. The ever-popular German carmaker, Volkswagen too has now listed Taigun on the Indian website and it will directly rival with the desired 2020 Hyundai Creta.

The upcoming Taigun will be coming under India 2.0 Project from Volkswagen and sits on the MBQ AO IN platform. To share more light, then the upcoming VISION IN from Skoda and this Taigun shares the same platform and powertrain options to keep the production costs in check.

As of now only the rear and side profile are showcased in the image. It sports a similar Kurkuma Yellow colour scheme which is similar to that of Volkswagen T-Roc. At the rear, it receives a C-shaped taillight pattern with smoked effect and thickened black strip running from one end to another.
The number plate is neatly placed on the lower part of the tailgate and rear bumper gets surrounded by a silver faux skid plate. The latter also receives chrome garnish along with a reflector which stretches across the width of the bumper.
Also, notice the roof rails, gloss black treatment on the roof, high mounted LED stoplight, raked rear windscreen with wiper, the distinctive graphic design behind the rear quarter glass, black arch wheel cladding and the massive 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheel design which enhance the overall looks of the SUV.
The front profile is not showcased but it looks similar to that of its elder sibling, Tiguan. Yes, the similar design LED headlights with integrated LED Daytime Running Lights, twin slat grille with chrome highlights and among others. The bumper at the front is a new one and thick chrome surround on the fog lights. Like the rear, at the front too the bumper gets faux silver skid plate to give a sporty appeal to the SUV.

Sharing the mechanical details then it is expected to receive a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This unit will come mated to a 6-speed manual as standard and an optional 7-speed DSG. There are no inputs on the power figures of this engine.
The prices for the same is expected to start from Rs 10 lakh and the higher variant will sit at Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Once launched, it will compete with the Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and upcoming Skoda Vision IN.
