Kia Motors is all set and charged up to introduce its third offering in India, the Kia Sonet. The Sonet will be the latest kid in the already crowded sub-compact SUV segment of India. Kia Motors made its Indian debut in August 2019 with the Seltos SUV and tasted instant success. Then came the Carnival Premium MPV in February this year. Now, the company will introduce the Kia Sonet and it will be the most affordable car in its stable. Kia Motors has just revealed the official interior and exterior sketches of the upcoming 2020 Kia Sonet. Let's have a closer look at it.
Kia Sonet will follow the footsteps of its elder sibling - Seltos. Kia Seltos is a stunning-looking SUV and the Sonet will be no different. These latest official sketches give us just a glimpse of how the exterior and the interior of the Sonet would look like. The Sonet will have its own unique identity and undoubtedly it will be one of the best looking SUVs in its class. As you can see in the image above, the Sonet gets Kia's signature tiger-nose grille with subtle chrome inserts. The grille might also get an illumination function. Then there are the all-LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and it might also get LED fog lamps. The Sonet gets a muscular stance and it looks very sporty from the front.
Moving to the side profile, you can see that the Sonet gets beautiful alloys. It will run on 16-inch dual-tone machined-cut alloy wheels. The sketch reveals that it will get chrome strips surrounding the lower window line and will sport roof rails too. The rear-profile of the Sonet also looks really good. It gets all LED-taillamps with a thin red-coloured strip in between that lends a connected appeal to the taillamps. It will get a roof-mounted spoiler, shark-fin antenna and an electric sunroof too. The Sonet gets body-cladding all around with skid plates both at the front as well as at the rear to enhance its muscular appeal. Overall, it looks really enchanting.
We have seen the exterior of the Kia Sonet multiple times, even at the 2020 Auto Expo. Now, Kia has finally revealed the interior images too. The first thing you will notice in the Sonet's cabin is its huge touchscreen infotainment system. The Sonet will get a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Kia's UVO connectivity. The image also reveals that it will get an all-digital instrument cluster, a multi-function three-spoke steering wheel, aluminium brush inserts surrounding the AC vents, mood lighting, etc. It gets subtle-red inserts too which clearly hint that just like the Seltos, it will also get a sporty GT line trim.

The GT line of the Sonet will get a powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor. All the mills might come mated to both a manual gearbox as well as an automatic transmission. It will also get an intelligent manual transmission (iMT). To know more about this iMT, click here. The Sonet will be most likely the second car in India to sport iMT gearbox after the Hyundai Venue. Kia Sonet will make it World Premiere in India on August 7, 2020, and will be launched in September this year. It is expected to be priced in the ballpark of Rs. 7 lakhs - Rs. 12 lakhs, Ex-showroom.
Talking about the Kia Sonet's design, Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design at Kia Motors Corporation said, We are extremely excited to introduce the new Kia Sonet to the world, a compact SUV with a strong and muscular character found only in much larger vehicles. With this in mind, we have designed this SUV with a uniquely sporty attitude, a confident stance and a dynamic silhouette.
