Mahindra launched the Bolero moniker back in 2000, within 2 years after its launch, Mahindra sold 8,824 units of the Bolero. In 2005, Mahindra Bolero became the No. 1 SUV in India by capturing 20% of its market share. Mahindra kept on improving the Bolero by giving it new features facelifts and engines too. Skip to 2018, Mahindra sold 1 million Boleros and it was in the list of Top 10 passenger vehicle sales. All thanks to its robust construction, reliability, cheap to maintain and abuse-friendly characteristics. You can take a Bolero anywhere and it won't even run out of breath once!
Mahindra recently launched the BS6 iteration of the Bolero and it gets power from a 1.5-litre diesel engine churning out a decent 75 Hp of power and a healthy 210 Nm of torque paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Most importantly, the max torque comes in from as low as 1600rpm. This in turns means you can potter in traffic in a higher gear and carry as many as 7 people without having to floor the right pedal every now and then. Further, it is a proper RWD unlike most of the new crossovers in SUV clothes which only comes with FWD layout. Mahindra Bolero gets BS6 compliance, Digital instrument cluster with a driver info display, power windows, ABS, driver airbag, micro-hybrid start/stop system, keyless entry, AC and many more features.

Of course, you will find a ton of features in other cars but Bolero is about practicality and value for money. It doesn't need to have modern-day features like sunroof, ventilated seats and heck, not even touchscreen infotainment.
It sits on a ladder frame chassis which is indestructible and can withstand anything you throw at it. We are sure you have seen the video when in Mumbai floods, a Jaguar XF was stuck under a flyover due to waterlogging but a Bolero passed by as it was a cake wake for it. Well, it is not a fair comparison but just an instance that shows the true capabilities of the Bolero.
2020 Mahindra Bolero BS6 offers 7 seats under 4-meters, rear seats face each other in the third row. It gives practicality of 7-seats at a price of other subcompact SUVs. 2020 Mahindra Bolero BS6 prices start at 7.98 lakhs for the base variant and the top variant is priced at Rs 8.99 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi and is similar to what you would pay for a smaller, sub 4m compact SUV. Size, in the case of the Bolero, does matter, eh?
