Mahindra Two-wheelers launched the Mahindra Mojo 300 for the first time in India back in 2015. Upon launch, it gained instant popularity and was a preferred choice among the motorcycle touring enthusiasts. The Mojo 300 drew mixed opinions owing to its unconventional design language but at the same time, it was highly appreciated by the bike enthusiasts for numerous reasons. Some liked it for its performance, some for its touring abilities and others for its growling exhaust note. According to reports, the new 2020 Mahindra Mojo BS6 will be launched soon in the country. So, here are some more details about it.
Let's first talk a bit about the history of the Mahindra Mojo in India. So, as we mentioned before, it was launched in 2015 and the motorcycle tourers praised the Mojo for its relaxed riding stance and large fuel tank. The Mojo boasts of a solid presence, thanks to its massive twin headlamps, bulky stance and twin exhaust. The Mojo has even more advantages but over the years, it started losing its charm. The Mojo didn't get any major updates in its five years of tenure and new products like Bajaj Dominar started offering even better value. Moreover, after the introduction of the Jawa Motorcycles, the sales of the Mojo declined steeply.
To keep the flow on, Mahindra launched the affordable and a lighter version of the Mojo 300 in 2018. From 2018 onwards, the Mojo was sold in two variants: base-spec UT300 and the top-spec XT300. While most of the components remained the same between both the models, the base-spec Mojo UT 300 was downgraded to a single side exhaust. However, it couldn't do any wonders for Mahindra on the sales chart. So, it was in 2019 that Mahindra clubbed both the variants and launched only one variant of the Mojo 300 with dual-channel ABS as an additional safety aid. This dual-channel ABS version was basically based on the Mojo UT300 which means it missed out dual-exhausts (instead, it got a single one) and even the chassis colour has been changed from golden to black.

The Mahindra Mojo is a very feature-loaded motorcycle that packs in solid hardware. It gets telescopic forks at the front and a gas-charged mono-shock absorber at the rear. It also gets a semi-analogue semi-digital instrument cluster in which the tachometer is analogue while all other details are shown in a digital format. The motorcycle also gets Bybre brakes and Pirelli Angel CT tyres. Talking about the upcoming BS6-compliant Mahindra Mojo, so a new report from BikeAdvice claims that the 2020 Mahindra Mojo will be launched very soon. According to their conversation with Mahindra Mojo's official Facebook page (see picture above), the Mojo 300 BS6 will be launched by the end of June 2020.
If you remember, the Mojo shares its powertrain with the Jawa Motorcycles. A few days ago, Jawa Motorcycles officially launched the BS6-compliant versions of the Jawa Classic and the Jawa 42. The Mojo fans were also expecting it to become BS6-compliant and now its finally happening. The Mojo 300 is expected to be powered by a BS6-compliant 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This engine will churn out 26.51 PS of power and 27.05 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Also, the BS6 Jawas feature India's first cross port technology on a motorcycle and we expect the same technology to feature in Mojo too.
Finally, talking about the price and the launch timeline. So, as mentioned before, the new 2020 Mahindra Mojo BS6 is expected to be launched in India by the end of June 2020. The 2019 BS4-compliant Mahindra Mojo with dual-channel ABS was priced at Rs. 1.89 lakhs, Ex-showroom and we expect the BS6 model to charge a slight premium over the BS4 counterpart. The BS6 Mojo 300 is expected to be priced roughly around Rs. 2 lakhs, Ex-showroom and once launched, it will rival against the Bajaj Dominar 250, KTM Duke 250, Husqvarna Twins, Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa Motorcycles and even the Bajaj Dominar 400.
