Maruti Suzuki is betting on no diesel policy in the BS6 era. This Indo-Japanese car manufacturer has now only gasoline-powered vehicles in its portfolio. Maruti has already launched all its BS6-compliant cars, save for the S-Cross. The new S-Cross Petrol was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and it was about to be launched in March this year. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the launch was delayed and now it will be launched on August 5, 2020. The Bookings for the new 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol are now officially open. Here are some more details about it.
The S-Cross is Maruti's Flagship car in India and is sold via premium NEXA dealerships. It was first launched in the year 2015. Upon launch, it was offered with 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines. The S-Cross got a facelift in 2017 and the facelifted model was powered by the 1.3-litre oil-burner only. Now in 2020, the car is getting the BS6 treatment and for the first time, it will be powered by a petrol engine. The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross BS6 gets a new heart and some minor feature upgrades. It will get Suzuki's new SmartPlay Studio Infotainment System.

Talking about the powertrain, so the new S-Cross will get the same mill that was recently introduced in the Vitara Brezza too. It will be powered by the K15B BS6-compliant 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine. This motor churns out 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It will get Marutis Smart Hybrid (SHVS) technology too. This same mill also does its duty in a slew of other Maruti cars which include Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza and the XL6.

The Bookings for the new 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol are now officially open. One can book it online or by visiting the company's any of the 370+ NEXA dealerships across India. The booking amount for the car is 11,000 rupees and it will be launched on August 5, 2020. The new S-Cross Petrol will be sold in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
