MG Motor India showcased the upcoming MG Gloster full-size SUV for the first time at the 2020 Auto Expo. Recently, the Gloster was revealed in its full glory and we also got to drive it. The Gloster will be the Flagship SUV in the company's India line-up. The carmaker was planning to launch it around the festive season and now it has been officially confirmed that the Gloster will be launched in India on October 8, 2020. MG has already revealed all the details about this full-size SUV. So, today we share with you everything you need to know about the upcoming 2020 MG Gloster BS6.
MG Gloster: Variants, Seating Configurations and Colour Options
The 2020 MG Gloster BS6 will be offered in four different variants - Super, Smart, Sharp and the range-topping variant will be called Savvy. The top-spec Savvy and the mid-spec Smart variant will be available only as a six-seater (captain seats in the middle row). The base Super trim will be offered in a seven-seater layout while the mid-spec Sharp trim will be very flexible as it will be available both as a six-seater as well as a seven-seater. Talking about colour options, the Gloster will be available in four different colour shades. They are Agate Red, Metal Black, Metal Ash and Warm White.

MG Gloster: Powertrain Options
The MG Gloster will be available with two different BS6-compliant diesel engine options. Both the mills will have the same 1996cc displacement and will be paired to the same automatic transmission. However, they are vastly different. The lower-spec Super and Smart variants will get a 2.0-litre single turbo diesel engine that will develop 163 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 375 Nm of peak torque between 1500-2400 RPM. On the other hand, the top-spec Sharp and Savvy variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that will churn out a massive 218 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 480 Nm of peak torque between 1500-2400 RPM. Both these oil-burners will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. However, the single-turbo diesel engine will get 2WD system (rear-wheel drive) but the twin-turbo motor will get an on-demand Intelligent 4-wheel drive system.
MG Gloster: Features and Safety Equipment
The upcoming MG Gloster full-size SUV will be loaded with features up to the gills. The Gloster will get a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It will also get MG's i-Smart 2.0 connectivity with over 70 connected car features. Some other features include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, a wireless charger, PM 2.5 filter, premium leatherette upholstery, an 8.0-inch multi-information display, seven driving modes and many more.

The safety features include ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, all-wheel disc brakes, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, front and rear parking sensors with a 360-degree parking camera, a blind-spot detection unit, front and rear fog lamps, ISOFIX child seat anchors, heated ORVMs, and many more. The top of the line Savvy variant will also get ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and it will have level-1 autonomous driving capabilities with features like automatic park assist, adaptive cruise control, etc.
MG Gloster: Launch Date, Expected Price and After-sales Service
The MG Gloster was scheduled to be launched this festive season. Now, it has been officially confirmed that the Gloster will be launched in India on October 8, 2020. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 32 lakhs - Rs. 40 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi and the bookings for the same are already open for Rs. 1 lakh. It will rival against the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4.
