Both the SUVs got very good response and garnered good sales numbers for the company. The company is now all geared up to launch its third offering in India. The third product from MG Motors is a six-seater version of the Hector SUV called the Hector Plus. MG Motors showcased this three-row SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The upcoming MG Hector Plus is a three-row version of the standard SUV and will share powertrain and features with the regular five-seater Hector. The main differentiating factor between the Hector Plus and the Hector will be the addition of the third row of seats. The Hector Plus will get captain seats in the middle row to offer best-in-class comfort to the passengers. According to sources, the Hector Plus will be initially offered as a six-seater only and the seven-seater version that will have a bench seat in the middle row will follow later this year.

MG Motors has also given certain design tweaks to differentiate both the products. The Hector Plus will get a new more premium look with the addition of certain design elements. The SUV will bost of a slimmer-looking profile with the addition of all-new slim LED headlamps, a new front grille, redesigned rear LED taillights, etc. It will also get revised front and rear bumpers with the addition of new aluminium skid plates. Overall, it will look even better compared to the already handsome-looking MG Hector.

Talking about dimensions, the new 2020 MG Hector Plus is around 40 mm longer compared to the regular five-seater SUV. Its other dimensions remain unchanged and the SUV measures 4695 mm in length, 1760 mm in width and 1835 mm in height. It sits on a 2750 mm long wheelbase and the ground clearance stands at 192 mm. The Hector Plus will also get plenty of features which include a massive panoramic sunroof, a huge vertically-oriented 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with next-gen i-SMART connected car technology, voice commands and many more. Powering the new MG Hector Plus will be the same engines that also power the regular Hector. It will be powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre BS6-compliant diesel engine that will churn out 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Initially, it is expected to come mated to only a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, MG Motors officially confirmed that it will soon launch a diesel-automatic too that will get a dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The diesel automatic version (DCT gearbox) will also be launched with the regular five-seater Hector at a later point of time.

The other engine is a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor that will churn out 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This engine gets mild-hybrid technology and the engine is assisted by a 48-volt electric motor. In Hector, this mild-hybrid variant pumps out identical power & torque figures but comes mated to both a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). We expect MG to offer the same with the Hector Plus too. This Hybrid version also packs in some additional functions like E-boost (torque boost of 20 Nm when required), engine start-stop and regenerative braking.

So, as we mentioned before the 2020 MG Hector Plus Production Begins in India and the production-spec models have started rolling out from today. The 2020 MG Hector Plus will be launched in India in July 2020 and is expected to be priced between Rs. 14 lakhs Rs. 20 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. This premium six-seater SUV will compete with other seven-seater SUVs and MPVs like the Toyota Innova CrystaMahindra XUV 500 and the upcoming Tata Gravitas.
