2020 Skoda Karoq BS6 Launched In India; Top 5 Highlights To Look For

The 2020 Skoda Karoq BS6 has been launched in the Indian market by Skoda India in an attempt to take on the rivals in the midsize SUV segment. The Karoq will be brought to India via the completely built unit (CBU) route and is priced at INR 24,99,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Here are top 5 highlights you should definitely check out about the Karoq:

Exterior Design

The 2020 Skoda Karoq BS6 is largely similar to the Skoda Kodiaq in terms of design language. The car looks elegant and front end, just like other modern cars from the brand, gets butterfly grille and sleek LED headlamps. A strong shoulder line and the bold wheel arches give the car a similar profile to that of the larger Kodiaq. The car gets 17-inch alloy wheels which along with the side claddings and flared up wheel arches gives the car a much more robust and tough look. At the rear, things are comparatively subtle and 'C' shaped LED tail lamps complement the overall character of the car.

Interiors

A premium and nicely laid out dashboard in the Karoq attracts the attention as soon as we step inside the cabin. Here again, the overall layout of the dashboard and the placement of buttons and controls remain largely similar to that of the Kodiaq. The cabin is full of soft to touch plastics and the car gets a nicely build cabin. In addition, the infotainment system, steering wheel, and the ACC control knobs are a direct lift from the Kodiaq. The Karoq gets a number of stand apart features such as digital driver's display and powered front seats.

Powertrain Options and Fuel Economy

A 1.5-L TSI Petrol engine will be the only engine powering the 2020 Skoda Karoq BS6. This engine churns out 150 PS and 250 NM of peak torque and comes mated to a 7-Speed DSG Gearbox. Moreover, this engine boasts active cylinder technology which shuts off two cylinders to further enhance the fuel economy. The claimed fuel economy figures for this engine stand at 14.49 KMPL. With this being said, it is also worth mentioning that there will be no diesel engine on offer with the Karoq as the brand is not expected to work on a BS6 compliant diesel engine any time soon.

Variants, Features and Equipment

The Karoq will only be available in one fully loaded trim option. The car is expected to come with an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, fully digital instrument console, panoramic sunroof, and cruise control in addition to other bells and whistles such as powered front seats, full-LED Headlamps, auto headlamps, and auto wipers. In the safety department, the car will be fully loaded with all the advanced electronic aids such as ABS, EBD, front and rear parking sensors, ESP, and hold your breath, nine airbags!

Price

The 2020 Skoda Karoq is priced at INR 24,99,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be rivaling against cars such as the Jeep Compass, VW T-ROC, and many others in the segment. Skoda started accepting the bookings of the Karoq for a minimal amount of RS 50,000.
