The BS6 Emissions Norms came into play from April 1, 2020, and the prices of the cars, especially the ones powered by oil-burners soared sky-high. A lot of car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Skoda Auto, Volkswagen, etc. ditched diesel engines from their line-up completely. However, there are carmakers who are still offering high-capacity diesel engines and Toyota is one of them. A few months ago, Toyota launched the BS6-compliant versions of the Innova Crysta and the Fortuner. The prices of these cars were hiked by a huge margin. As we all know, the Innova is a very popular utility vehicle. So, Toyota is now coming up with a CNG version of the same. The 2020 Toyota Innova Crysta BS6 CNG has been recently spied on test in India and here are some more details about it.
The Innova Crysta CNG was first spotted on test in India in January 2020. At that time, it was caught running in the National Capital Region. Now, the CNG-powered Innova Crysta has been spied in the Bangalore city. If you don't know, let me tell you that Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited has its manufacturing facility at Bidadi, Karnataka. Moreover, Toyota India (TKM) also has a manufacturing plant on the outskirts of Bangalore. So, it seems that Toyota is doing the final rounds of testing and the Innova Crysta CNG will be launched in India really soon.

Talking about the powertrain options, so the Innova Crysta will get a factory-fitted CNG option with the petrol engine of the MPV. That's because petrol engines are now gaining high popularity in India and also they are comparatively cheaper to maintain. Currently, the Innova Crysta gets a BS6-compliant 2.7-litre petrol engine. This motor churns out 166 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. It comes coupled to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The upcoming Innova Crysta CNG will get the same engine but will be detuned to produce slightly lesser power and torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only.
The BS6-compliant Innova Crysta also gets a diesel engine. It gets a 2.4-litre oil-burner that develops 150 PS of power and 343 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel engine also gets a 6-speed automatic gearbox and it develops slightly more torque rated at 350 Nm. The BS6-compliant Innova Crysta Petrol is currently priced between Rs. 15.66 lakhs - Rs. 21.78 lakhs while the Diesel model is priced between Rs. 16.44 lakhs - Rs. 23.63 lakhs. All prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi. The upcoming bi-fuel Innova Crysta CNG will be a great option for the cab aggregators and for those who want an Innova with a low-running cost.
