Yamaha is all set to launch the updated BS6 FZ25 in India and along with this, its fancier sibling, the FZS 25. Specifications in terms of engine, dimensions and other bits will remain same for both the bikes but the FZS 25 will get added features that will make it stand out. Here's a look at what all makes the 2020 Yamaha FZS 25 BS6 a very good bike for prospective customers in the 250cc segment. Do note that pricing is yet to be released but the below-mentioned information is now out in public.
The 2020 Yamaha FZS 25 BS6 will be available in a total of three colours namely the Patina Green, White Vermillion and the Dark Matt Blue. The blue and green options will come with golden wheels whereas the white option will get black wheels with a red strip. Tyre size remains same as before. We have also discussed Yamaha FZ 25 vs FZS 25 in detail here.
Visually, the 2020 Yamaha FZS 25 BS6 will get a longer visor which not only looks good but will also help deflect air away from the rider's chest. Next difference as compared to the normal FZ 25 is the addition of brush guards that will also protect the rider's hands from wind chill in colder regions and winter months. The bi-functional LED headlight along with LED daytime running lights is a new feature that is common to both the FZ 25 and the FZS 25.
Powering the bikes will be the same 249cc single cylinder motor that pushes out 20.8 PS of power and 20.1 Nm of torque. These figures are identical to that of the BS4 motor. The bikes will also come with dual channel ABS as standard. When launched in 2017, the FZ 25 carried at sticker price of Rs 1,19,500 and we expect the 2020 model to command a slight premium due to the LED add-ons. The 2020 Yamaha FZS 25 BS6 will also be a few thousand rupees more expensive than the regular FZ 25.
When launched, the FZS 25 will lock horns with the newly launched Bajaj Dominar 250. This is priced at Rs 1.6 lakh (ex-showroom) which means the FZS 25 will enjoy a price gap of about Rs 30,000. This is a huge sum and could be a deal maker in some cases. What do you think?
