As we all know that the upcoming new Tata Safari is essentially the seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier and it was earlier codenamed as the Tata Gravitas. The Tata Harrier DARK Edition was launched in India in mid-2019 and it became an instant hit. Back then, the new Tata Harrier DARK Edition was BS4 compliant and though the SUV didn't get any mechanical upgrades or feature add-ons, that new all-black colour scheme made it much more desirable than before. The Tata Harrier DARK Edition was a looker and it fetched good sales numbers for the company. The company introduced the DARK Edition with the new BS6 compliant Harrier 2020 too and recently, the carmaker also launched the Harrier CAMO Edition. Just like the DARK Edition, the new Harrier CAMO Edition too gets only cosmetic changes.

The new Tata Safari will be essentially an extended seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier. However, this new upcoming SUV will get a lot of cosmetic changes to differentiate it from the regular five-seater Harrier. The Safari will also share its mechanicals with the Tata Harrier. This means that it will be powered by the same BS6-compliant 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. This diesel motor will churn out 170 PS of maximum power and a whopping 350 Nm of peak torque. The oil-burner will come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and it will get a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission too. What are your thoughts on the new upcoming Tata Safari?
