Audi had stopped selling the Q7 when the BS6 emission norms came into play in the Indian car industry. This has been one of their strongest products ever and the company is now starting 2022 with a bang - the Q7 returns and while there is an embargo on our drive review, we can still share a lot of information with our readers. So without further ado, here are four things you need to know about the 2022 Audi Q7.
Pricing & Launch
Prospective customers can now pre-book the new Q7. Booking amount stands at Rs 5 lakh and the final, official pricing will be announced this month itself. Dealer dispatch, as we understand, will start soon and deliveries will begin immediately once the prices are out. If you are interested in one, keep an eye out on our Youtube channel for a detailed review that goes online on the evening of 19th January
Engine on offer
If you are looking for a large, diesel luxury SUV, the 2022 Audi Q7 will disappoint you. No more oil burners from Audi for the Indian car market and this means the new Q7 will only come with a petrol engine option. However, this is a powerful motor and should definitely reward owners with grinning moments. This 3000cc petrol motor puts out 340 horses along with 500 Nm of torque. Quattro, or AWD is standard and so is an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Audi India claims sub 6 second timing for the 0 to 100 km/h sprint.
Feature loaded
The 2022 Audi Q7 will be available in two trims of Premium Plus and Technology. While variant wise feature list isn't out, what we do know is that the Technology version will offer three screens (as seen above) that include the virtual cockpit (instrumentation cluster) and one screen each for the MMI display and climate control settings. Owners will also get B&O premium 3D sound system, Lane Departure Warning, a 360 degree camera, Auto Park Assist, Matrix LED lights, 4-zone climate control to name a few. This 7 seater SUV will also get power function for the 3rd row along with hands free tail gate operation.
Rivals
The 2022 Audi Q7 is a full sized, 7 seater luxury SUV. The segment has multiple options ranging from the Volvo XC90 to the BMW X7. Likewise, Mercedes-Benz also offers the GLE as well as the longer GLS. Needless to say, it will be hard work for the Q7 to get in buyers into Audi showrooms. More than a decade back, the Q7 was the epitome of luxury on four large wheels. But in 2022, can it replicate the same success story? Stay tuned as we bring you our review on the 19th January.
