BMW has launched the M Sport version of their popular selling SUV, X5 xDrive 30d at a price of Rs 97.9 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. This variant is not the performance-oriented trim of the SUV but the M Sport is just a cosmetic update that the SUV possesses.
It is now the top-spec variant in the X5 line-up and this specific trim now gets the M Sport design package. This includes new tailpipes, front bumper, rear diffuser, M-specific car key, brake calliper and logos on the side. Rest, everything remains the same on the outside as before.
On the inside, when compared with the base, SportX Plus trim, this new trim gains adaptive LED headlights, adaptive air suspension, electric tailgate, steering mounted paddle shifters, head-up display, 360-degree camera, launch control, 20-inch sport alloy wheels and 16-speaker Harmon Kardon music system.
Other features on the SUV include twin 12.3-inch screens (touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster), wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, gesture control and more. This SUV competes with Volvo XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Land Rover Discovery.
Mechanically, things remain unchanged and it is powered by the same diesel engine. The 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor belts out 262 bhp of power at 4000 RPM with a peak torque of 620 Nm at 1500 RPM. This engine gets mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels which gets possible because of the xDrive system.
