Retro Design

BSA Gold Star 650

The first thing to notice is its retro design. Being based on a retro old classic bike, the design caters to the retro-loving audience. However, it does not mean that it will not get the modern bits. The latest tech like LED lighting, semi-digital instrument cluster, etc., are fitted spot-on over it. Meanwhile, the overall appeal is mostly classic and old-school. The round headlight, single-piece seat, round indicators, long chrome rear fender, etc., make it a proper modern retro. Customers looking for a bigger bike with an iconic badge shall look forward to its launch.

Modern Features

BSA Gold Star 650

Being a modern retro, the features list on the BSA is going to be pretty decent. For starters, it will receive LED lighting and a semi-digital dual pod instrument cluster. Additionally, the bike is suspected to get additional features like Bluetooth connectivity. However, we can not be very sure of it as there are official confirmations regarding it. Meanwhile, we expect that it will be decently feature-loaded to compete with Royal Enfield's rival bikes.

Powerful Engine

BSA Gold Star 650

One of the main USPs of the upcoming Gold Star will be its engine. BSA has fitted a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It makes a peak power of 45.6 PS and 55 Nm of peak torque. 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch assistance pays the duty for delivering the power seamlessly to the rear wheel. Meanwhile, the single-cylinder engine might look insufficient on paper; its performance in the global markets has been adequate. We suspect that its engine will perform nearly as well as the Interceptor 650.

Specifications

In terms of specs, the Gold Star is equipped with USD front forks and dual spring-type suspension at the rear. However, the suspension is sturdy and provides a claimed good ride quality on the bike. Meanwhile, the bike comes with spoked rims and tube-type tyres. Additionally, the fuel tank capacity stands at 12 liters which shall provide it with a long riding range as well. Also, the Gold Star 650 will come equipped with a single disc brake at the front and a single rear disc brake at the rear. However, the dual-channel ABS is going to be a standard feature on the bike.

BSA Gold Star 650 Price

Last but not least we know about the Gold Star is its pricing. It is expected to be competitively priced at around Rs 3 lakh. The price is anticipated to be ex-showroom. However, the Interceptor 650 is its main rival; the price will not exceed much when compared to it. Additionally, the bike is going to be offered in multiple colours as well as variants too.

Verdict

The BSA Gold Star 650 is going to be a very competent rival to the already established rivals. A retro-modern product with a well-established iconic badge; the BSA will be one of the tough competitors for the Royal Enfield 650 twins. More details about it will get revealed once the bike debuts in the first quarter of 2023. Until then, we wait.
