- Toyota Innova Crysta launched with a Facelift
- Was removed from Toyota's website in November 2022
- Features have been upgraded and the diesel engine returns
Toyota in November 2022 silently detracted the Innova Crysta from its official website. The Innova Crysta was doing extremely well and was a favorite among the MPV buyers segment. All thanks to the powerful engine and the comfort that it offered. It was speculated that the Crysta was benched to make way for the new Innova Hycross. But to Everyone's surprise, Toyota has relaunched its star performer, the mighty Innova Crysta in 2023, and that too, with a facelift. Plus, the cherry on top is the Diesel engine option back in the Crysta.
Yes, your favorite Innova Crysta is back with some subtle outer and sizeable inner changes. Let us get into what's changed and what's the same.
1. Updated Front Design: Changed, But Subtle
The new Crysta has an updated front profile. The pre-facelift Crysta had a design that needed no changes. It was smooth, appealing, and inspired a sense of sophistication. But, the new changes are subtle, carrying forward the legacy, but noticeable. It now gets a comparatively aggressive front grill and resigned fog lamps. This is obviously expected from a facelift. The design, however, is a very subjective topic.

2. Diesel Engine Reintroduced With The Innova Crysta 2023
With the launching of Innova Hycross 2023 in only petrol and petrol-hybrid variant, everyone thought that Toyota has finally put the diesel to rest. But....
In a filmy " Picture Abhi Baki Hai Mere Dost" style twist, the 2023 Innova Crysta Facelift has been launched in a single Diesel-only option. It continues with the same 2.4 -liter diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual option. However, there is no Automatic option with this one.
3. New Features Added- More Tech Than Before
Apart from a few minor front design changes, the Crysta now gets a higher tech quotient. It has evolved with new additions on the inside for better comfort and accessibility.
It is now equipped with an 8-way powered adjustable driver seat, multi-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, 8-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, smart entry, seat back table, and one-touch tumble second-row seats.
Safety features include 7 SRS Airbags, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Vehicle Stability Control and Hill-Start Assist Control, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution ( EBD), and Brake Assist (BA), 3-point Seatbelt and Headrest for improved safety.
On the safety front, it has 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill start assist, and 3 point seatbelt for enhanced safety. For the first time, 2 generations of Innova will be sold side by side. The trims on offer are all four G, GX, VX, and ZX. The petrol will be missed out on this one.
- Crysta facelift is a minor front design update
- More tech features include a bigger infotainment screen and multi-zone climate control
- Offered only in a diesel variant
VERDICT - With the launch of Innova Hycross on petrol and petrol-hybrid variant, the sentiment was that Toyota was doing away with the Diesel option. But the reintroduction of the much-celebrated Crysta in a diesel option is a very welcome move. It will be the first time that 2 generations of Innova will be sold side-by-side. This will keep the Crysta fans happy who were not very inclined towards the Hycross. The bookings are already open for all 4 variants from Rs. 50,000.
