The Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus has unveiled the brands first global Battery EV (BEV), RZ 450e. The brand is preparing to launch the vehicle by the end of this year in the global market. The new RZ is built on a BEV-specific basis and features a new Direct4 all-wheel-drive system. The vehicle's core performance has been improved by using a BEV-specific platform (e-TNGA), as well as a lightweight and highly stiff body, to achieve optimal weight distribution through the ideal placement of the battery and motor.

The RZ is powered by two electric motors and a 71.4kWh battery pack (one at each axle). The front motor generates 201 bhp of power, while the rear motor produces 107 bhp power, for a total power output of 308 bhp of power and 435 Nm of tor. The RZ, on the other hand, is more powerful than the Toyota Bz4X, which is the top of the line. According to WLTC, the RZ 450e has a range of 450 kilometers on a single charge.
For the RZ, Lexus developed a new steer-by-wire technology. In sharp bends, this technique allows for the operation of a yoke-like steering wheel, eliminating the need for hand-over-hand steering. The steering is adjusted to a maximum of 150 degrees, allowing for a full range of movement in each direction of fewer than 90 degrees. The Lexus' design enables for a smaller, more compact steering wheel even with a normal round steering wheel attached.
Lexus RZ 450e Exterior and Interior Design
In terms of exterior design, it seems quite similar to the other Lexus SUVs. It gets a spindle grille, swoosh-like daytime running lights, geometric design language, and an LED light bar at the back. Apart from that, it has a sloped roofline and a little ducktail spoiler.

The cabin of the RZ is a basic, yet airy, and luxuriously outfitted space. The low-profile instrument panel blends seamlessly with the flowing curve of the doors. The clean, wide-open sensation is created by the door trim and console that runs between the driver and passenger seats.
The Lexus RZ has a 14-inch touchscreen with the Lexus Interface infotainment system, which was previously only available on the NX and LX SUVs. It also boasts a panoramic sunroof that runs the length of the vehicle, from the front seats to the rear. Adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, and the automated emergency braking are among the safety technologies available.
Lexus has yet to make an announcement on the new RZ's arrival in India. Although the brand has debuted its NX 350h hybrid SUV, it is priced between Rs 64.90 and Rs 71.60 lakhs (ex-showroom).
