Amid the sweltering and humid conditions at the Greater Noida venue, race organizers have responded to the demands of the riders by deciding to shorten the race distances for the inaugural MotoGP India event. In this adjustment, one lap will be removed from the Sprint, Moto2, and Moto3 races, while the MotoGP Grand Prix race will see a reduction of three laps. For all the interesting details, read below.

2023 MotoGP Bharat: Race Distances Shortened Due to Sweltering Conditions

For the first time since the 2013 Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix, which unfortunately faced its demise due to a mix of financial, taxation, and bureaucratic challenges, India is once again playing host to a motorsport extravaganza. This remarkable event unfolds at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida from September 22 to 24, marking a significant return to the racing scene.

The MotoGP Bharat Grand Prix 2023 promises excitement aplenty, boasting a lineup of 82 skilled riders representing 41 teams. Across the span of three exhilarating days, they'll be battling it out for the highest accolades in not just one, but three categories: MotoGP, Moto 2, and Moto 3.

In a recent MotoGP statement addressing the adjustment of race lengths, they remarked, The inaugural IndianOil Grand Prix of India is now well underway and has already set the scene for some incredible competition this weekend, with just 0.008s deciding the fastest rider on Friday."

The statement continued, Now, after gaining a first full day of experience in the hot and humid conditions  both of which are forecast to continue  riders have asked for race distances to be adjusted."

Elaborating on the changes, the statement noted, Following their feedback and that of official tyre suppliers, one lap will therefore be taken off the Tissot Sprint, Moto2" and Moto3" races, and the MotoGP" Grand Prix race will be shortened by three laps."
