The Skoda Kodiaq was updated globally sometime last year, and the Czech car maker has finally done the needful by showcasing it at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The new Kodiaq has taken on a more rounded shape this time around, giving it a slightly MPV-ish appearance compared to the outgoing car. The trademark Skoda butterfly grille has been retained, but it has been restyled, and it now also gets a light bar with 14 different lighting signatures. While the overall length has gone up by 61mm, the length of the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2791mm.

Continuing with modern design trends, it gets sleek tail lights with a connecting full-length light strip. Globally, it comes with wheel sizes ranging between 17 to 20-inches. However, for India, Skoda has decided to stuck with 18-inch wheels.

Globally, the Kodiaq receives a wide range of powertrain options, including both petrols, diesels, mild-hybrid, and even a plug-in hybrid powertrain. However, for India, the Czech car maker continues with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol option, which sees a slight bump in output figures, now producing 201bhp and 320Nm of torque. This powertrain is paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission, and it continues to receive 4x4 as standard.

The interiors of the new Kodiaq are nearly identical to what we have seen on the new Superb, which we have also spoken about elsewhere on our website. It gets a new layout, with a 13-inch screen taking centre stage, and the new smart dial controls sitting just below which get an integrated display for the A/C settings. It also gets a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit digital cluster, an optional head-up display, and wireless smartphone charging.

Some other features available on the new Kodiaq include a 13-speaker Canton sound system, remote parking assist, ADAS features, power-adjustable ventilated front seats, voice assistant with ChatGPT chatbot integration, navigation, weather updates, and nine airbags among other things.

We can expect Skoda to launch the new Kodiaq sometime later this year, with a slight price hike from the current-gen car. We are extensively covering the 2025 Auto Expo; follow our social handles for the latest updates!

Verdict

The new Kodiaq has been long overdue in the Indian market, and it will go up against the Jeep Meridian, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Hyundai Tucson. Interestingly, most products in this segment are due for an upgrade, and we can expect more metal headed our way soon.
