The 4th gen Maruti Suzuki Swift has recently gone through the Euro NCAP crash test rating. The model tested by the Euro NCAP crash test agency was the international spec model and it scored an average rating of 3 stars. The Swift was earlier tested by the Japanese Crash Tets agency where it scored 4 stars on the test. Read the details of the new Swift's Euro NCAP results below. Maruti Swift Euro NCAP Result

The new Maruti Swift scored 67 percent in adult occupant protection, 65 percent in child occupant protection, 76 percent in vulnerable road users protection, and 62 percent in safety assistance.

The front impact test showed stability in the passenger compartment and it showed good protection of the knees and femurs for driver and passenger. The test also highlighted that some areas of the dashboard pose a risk for occupants of different sizes and compacted to those sitting in different positions. The driver's chest protection was weak while the passenger was marginal. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection was rated as marginal for the chest of the driver and rear passenger. In the side barrier test, protection of the chest was adequate and that of other critical body areas was good.

In the frontal offset test for child protection, Swift showed poor protection to the next of the 10-year dummy. The chest protection was marginal and head protection was adequate. For a 6-year-old dummy, the neck protection was weak and the head deceleration result showed a marginal rating for the body area. In the side barrier test, the chest acceleration showed poor protection.

The model tested in the Euro NCAP test was the international spec model which comes loaded with six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) ADAS features such as lane keep assist, autonomous braking, and more.

Verdict

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most popular hatchback in the Indian market. The hatchback is yet to be crash tested in India, but the global crash test ratings might turn off some potential customers. It is important to note that the India spec variant comes with less safety features as compared to international spec variants.
