- On Indian roads, a 2022 Nissan X-Trail SUV has been spotted
- The appearance suggests that it might be the Nissan X-Trail
- On October 18, Nissan will host an event, and there is a chance that the new SUV may be announced there
Nissan India is getting ready for an event that is scheduled for October 18, 2022, but the specifics of the occasion are still a mystery. Several days before the planned brand event, a Nissan X-Trail SUV test mule has been spotted in India. Since the company now only offers the Kick and Magnite SUVs in India, it's probable that it has ambitions to launch a new model there.

2022 Nissan X-Trail SUV Spotted
The recently discovered SUV test mule is heavily camouflaged, but the oval emblem and grille reveal that it is a Nissan. The front grille has an angular shape, and the front end is equipped with LED DRLs. Below those, it appears that LED headlamps are also present. The Nissan X-Trail SUV, which is sold in several countries, boasts the similar visual aesthetic. With the introduction of the X-Trail in the Indian market, Nissan may be aiming to enter the premium SUV industry.
The SUV's back features integrated spoiler and LED tail lamps. The alloy wheels appear to be mounted on a 17-inch wheel from the side. The global variant's features include a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.8-inch heads-up display among other premium features.

The X-Trail is offered with an e-Power electric motor and a 1.5-liter turbo engine on the global market. For the overseas markets, the engine is also coupled with a CVT transmission. The engine and transmission specifications of the X-Trail remain a mystery, and the firm has not yet made any announcements on its introduction in India.
Verdict: If Nissan plans to build it locally, the X-Trail SUV will compete with the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Creta and MG Hector if Nissan plans to sold in India. If it is shipped as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit, the Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan and Citroen C5 Aircross will be the competitors due to pricing. Nissan may announce new products at its event on October 18th.
