A spokesperson from Jitendra EV said "An unfortunate incident took place on 9th April near our factory gate in a scooter transport container. Safety being of prime importance, we are investigating the root cause and we will come up with the findings in coming days."

It's the fifth incident in the past few weeks, following the fires of Ola Electric's S1 Pro electric scooter, Pure EV's electric scooter, Sahara EV's electric scooter, and Okinawa Autotech's electric scooter. As a result of the huge number of fires, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has launched an investigation to know the cause of these fires. Experts from the Centre for Fire Explosives, DRDO, and IISc, Bengaluru, have been instructed to conduct a forensic examination into each event, according to Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road and Highways.

The cause of these fires could be a faulty battery management system or the usage of low-cost materials. If an EV catches fire, dousing it with water can only make things worse. Since the beginning of summer in India, electric vehicles, particularly two-wheelers, have grown more vulnerable to fire outbreaks. Several experts feel that the lithium-ion batteries used in India's electric vehicles are not adaptable to local conditions.
