India is a developing country and it is the automobile sector that sees several advancements in technologies. Just like the passenger vehicle segment which is growing, the commercial too takes a leap as one of India's largest commercial vehicle maker, Ashok Leyland has just brought in AVTR 4120 which is the country's first 4-axle 14-wheeler truck.

This 8X2 DTLA gross vehicle weight measures 40.2 tonnes and gets an additional payload capacity of 5 tonnes which is larger when compared to the regular 8X2 trucks. This additional quality results in more capacity thus increasing the business.

This AVTR 4120 comes with a 12.5-tonne dual-tyre lift axle which gets parallelogram technology which ensures a better tyre life overall. This truck is offered with two motors - a 200 hp with 700 Nm of peak torque and a more powerful 250 hp with 900 Nm of peak torque. The latest iGen6 technology is equipped with motors to ensure a better fuel economy.
Commenting on the launch, Mr Anuj Kathuria, COO, Ashok Leyland, said, We have last year launched AVTR India's first Modular Truck platform to address the varied Load-Road-Application and customer requirements. Now, with this innovative product, we will give flexibility to customers. In many applications, the load availability is dynamic due to various factors like the type of material, onward/return load, seasonality, customer order quantity, etc.
This new product will operate at 40.5 Ton with the lift axle down (Revenue and payload nearly similar to 10x2) and at 28 Ton with the lift axle up (lower fuel and operating cost similar to 6x2) during light load/partial load/return empty. This new product offers the customer flexibility to operate at a large band of GVW from 28T to 40.5T with best in class Total Cost of Operation (TCO) benefits.

AVTR 4120 is fitted with a 12.5-tonne dual tyre lift axle (DTLA) with Patented Parallogram technology which ensures better tyre life. AVTR 4120 is powered by a 200 HP engine with iGen6 technology offering superior power, performance and fluid efficiency. This innovative product is positioned to change the rule of the game in the long haul transport segment.
This truck comes in three variants - Ncab, Mcab and Ucab. The former is the top of the line variant which gets all the bells and whistles like an air conditioning system, suspended driver seat, anti-roll bar, music system and a full metal front fascia.
