The Bangalore-based electric scooter maker Ather Energy announced the introduction of this feature via its social media handle. There were already a lot of speculations of an upcoming TPMS that are now a reality. According to Ather, the TPMS might not look very important at first glance. But, the TMPS is more needed in an EV as compared to the ICE-powered vehicles. This is because the EVs do not visit the fuel filling stations.
As most of the ICE-powered vehicles require filling up fuel routinely, they come across the air filling stations as well. This frequency helps the ICE-powered vehicles to maintain a healthier tyre pressure as compared to the EVs. Now, with the addition of the TPMS, the Ather 450X will help the rider to know the correct tyre pressure. The sensors are installed inside of the alloy rim attached to the air valve stem. This sensor is further connected to the Ather's infotainment system which shows the correct measurement of tyre pressure.
Additionally to this, the owners can also access the tyre pressure reading via Ather's smartphone app. This will help the owners to prevent any mishaps due to low tyre pressure. Also, if an owner is far away from the scooter; they can easily access the information regarding the tyre pressure.
