The Ather 450X gets a modern and aggressive design language. There are strong cuts and creases which give it a sporty look. The Ather 450x gets all LED lighting and a boot space of 26L, all thanks to the battery pack which is placed in the footboard. The Ather 450X gets great build quality and the fit and finish levels are impressive. In terms of features and equipment, the Ather 450x is one of the most handsomely equipped scooters in the segment and boasts a seven-inch touchscreen instrument panel that gets Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The system uses an android based user interface and the rider can control a number of phone functions via this system. To get better and faster internet connectivity, an eSIM with a 4G network can also be utilized.
The Bajaj Chetak on the other hand gets a more elegant and retro design language. The scooter looks beautiful and is one of the best looking two-wheelers out there on the Indian roads. Ather 450X Vs Bajaj Chetak - Specs
The Ather 450X gets a 2.7 kWh battery which powers an 8 hp electric motor churning out 26 Nm of maximum torque. The scooter has a top speed of 80 kmph and gets four different driving modes - Eco, Ride, Sport, and Warp. The claimed range of the vehicle is said to be 116 Kms per charge in the Eco mode while a DC fast Charger takes about 5 hrs and 45 mins to fully charge the battery. In terms of performance, the Ather 450X reaches 40kmph from a standstill in 3.29 secs while 60 kmph figure is achieved in 6.5 secs (claimed).
Unlike the Ather 450X, the Bajaj Chetak gets a 3 kWH battery pack. The power from this battery pack is used to give electricity to a 5.7 hp motor. The top speed of the scooter is just 60 kmph and there are two driving modes on offer - Eco and Sport. While the claimed range in Eco mode stands at 95 Km, the Sport mode lets the scooter go for a maximum of 85 Km on a single charge. On the upside though, a normal conventional home charger takes about 5 hrs to fully charge the battery on the Chetak.

Ather 450X vs Bajaj Chetak - Ride, handling and braking performance
The Ather 450X gets telescopic forks at the front and rear mono-shock at the rear. The suspension is tuned for performance is on the stiffer side. The stiff suspension makes it very stable at the higher speeds but at the slow speeds, the ride is not very absorbent, making it very uncomfortable, especially for the pillion rider. The braking setup of the scooter includes disc brakes at front and rear which have enough power to slow down the scooter in the desired time and within the desired distance.
A single-sided telescopic suspension with swingarm is found on the Chetak. The suspension is soft and at the same time gives decent handling characteristics to the scooter. The Chetak may not feel as agile as the Ather 450x but is more practical for day to day use. The lower variant of the Chetak gets a front disc and rear drum brakes while the Premium variant gets discs at the front and rear.

The Ather 450X Plus is priced at Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom) while the pro variant is priced from Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). A 3-year and unlimited kilometers warranty come standard with the Ather 450X.
The starting price of the Bajaj Chetak is Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base, Urbane Variant while the Premium variant is priced from Rs 1.15 Lakh (ex-showroom). The Chetak gets a battery warranty of 3 years or 50,000 kilometers, whichever is earlier.

The Ather 450X is not just a sporty looking scooter but is extremely fast, agile, and composed at the higher speeds. While the scooter is definitely more fun to drive than the Chetak, the overall characteristics of the 450x make it less suitable for day to day usage. The Bajaj Chetak on the other hand not only looks better of the two but in addition to this, is more practical. However, if you are someone who loves to push the vehicle to its maximum limits, the Ather 450X with its powerful motor and a feature-rich package is definitely a better pick.
