Bajaj Chetak Electric To Get Feature Rich Along With Bigger Battery
The upcoming Chetak Electric scooter will be offered in two variants - Urbane and Premium. The Premium trim, in particular, will boast a larger 3.2kWh battery pack, providing an ARAI-certified range of 126km. Additionally, the Chetak Electric is anticipated to feature advanced elements such as a TFT color display that integrates turn-by-turn navigation and smartphone connectivity. The display size is expected to fall within the range of five to seven inches, offering riders a modern and connected riding experience.
The Chetak Urbane variant is poised to replace the current Premium trim level. It is anticipated to retain the same 2.9kWh battery pack as the existing model, but with an increased ARAI-certified range of 113km5km more than the current iteration. Moreover, the Urbane variant is expected to offer a higher top speed, enhancing its overall performance compared to the current model.
Updated Mechanicals
In terms of its mechanical components, the revised Bajaj Chetak is expected to be equipped with a 4.25kW (5.7bhp) BLDC electric motor, projecting improved performance compared to the current model. It is reasonable to speculate that the scooter may also feature a higher top speed, courtesy of the updated motor.
Expected Launch Timeline And Price
The anticipated launch of the new Bajaj Chetak Electric is likely to occur within the next couple of months. However, the unveiling can be expected in December 2023 as well. In terms of pricing, it is expected that the Premium trim will come with a premium price tag, potentially ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 over the current version, reflecting the upgrades and improvements incorporated into the new model.
Verdict
Bajaj Chetak electric carries the legacy of fuel-powered iconic scooter from the past. With introduction of newer trims, it is looking to attract a diverse set of buyers by offering more flexibility, both in terms of price, as well as specific requirements. Since the price bump also means increased range, some people might be okay with this fair bargain.
