Bajaj Chetak Urbane: What's In The Store?
The Chetak Urbane boasts a vibrant colour LCD display, just like its Premium counterpart. Packed with features like Hill Hold Assist, Reverse Mode, Geo-location, Key Fob, App Connectivity, and an Off-board Charger, it's designed for convenience.
What's under the hood? The new Urbane keeps the same 2.9kWh battery as the current model. Interestingly, the Bajaj website indicates a slightly higher range (113km) compared to the current Chetak (108km). But here's the twist the Urbane's range is IDC-certified, while the current Chetak Premium's 108km is its real-world claim (IDC rates it at 126km).
Cruising at a standard 63kph, the Urbane has a sole Eco riding mode. But, throw in the "Tecpac," and voila! The top speed jumps to 73kph, and you unlock a Sport mode. It's like giving your ride a turbo boost.

While the new Urbane model brings some nice upgrades, it does fall a bit behind the current Chetak Premium in a couple of aspects. The charging speed with the standard charger has taken a bit of a dip, going from a zippy 800W to a still decent 650W. This means the charging time has stretched out a bit, now taking around 4 hours and 50 minutes instead of the previous 3 hours and 50 minutes.
Another thing to note is that the Urbane version gets drum brakes at both ends. It's like the reliable classic, but if you're all about that disc brake life, you might want to stick with the Chetak Premium for now. It's like picking between classic and modern vibes. Just giving you the lowdown in a nutshell!
Verdict
While the Chetak Urbane introduces exciting features, the reduced charging speed and drum brakes might be areas of concern. The anticipation of an updated Chetak Premium suggests Bajaj's commitment to refining their electric scooter lineup, addressing potential drawbacks.
