Bajaj CNG Bike - Will It Be Called Platina?
As per an online report, the CNG bike from Bajaj is going to be a commuter bike. It'll most probably based on a 110cc engine. Bajaj also says that it is exploring the Platina badge for adding the CNG bike into the lineup. Not long ago, the news of Bajaj making a CNG bike went viral. To date, there are not many details available about it. But now, Mr. Rakesh Sharma, ED Bajaj, has told to media that a CNG bike prototype is almost ready. In fact, if all goes well, Bajaj aims to hit the production line of CNG bikes within the upcoming 6 months to 1 year of time span.
From what we know now, it'll get a reworked frame from one of the commuter bikes. This can very well be a 110cc Platina frame which shall be tuned to fit a CNG cylinder and a small fuel tank. Also, the petrol fuel tank will be very small. It'll be enough to make the bike reach the nearest CNG/petrol station. However, the majority of the fuel system will comprise the CNG itself. Apart from that, the overall design will be that of a proper ICE bike. Additionally, Bajaj will tune the chassis in a way that the CNG cylinder can be removed and re-fitted easily from the rear side of the bike.
The cherry on the top of the cake will be the lower GST rates on the CNG bike. This means that Bajaj will be able to keep the pricing affordable enough for the masses. If this happens, Bajaj will again revolutionize the Indian commuting segment with this new tech. Bajaj has timely proved its capabilities and innovation mixed with affordability. With the CNG bike, this shall take one step ahead. Tell us in the comments what you think about a CNG bike & will it be successful in India.
